How did you maintain your sanity doing the ARR Beast Tribes without flying?

Oh, did them during HW.
It was easier but I tried to get extra exp on other jobs.

Took me a while to figure that I could get on lv60 job to cross areas and not getting aggro'd by the world...
Didn't helped that mounts were slowed by ennemy attacks, what a blessing it was when they removed that.

Edit: Especially those of us who have done/are currently doing all the relics....still 4 HW to finish off(at the dungeon crawl for a few), and Pyros+ to do for all but 2 of the StB relics. All combat ShB ones done, and at Diadem farming for DoH/DoL...I don't think I've ever had sanity to be able to work on all that without much issue(other than the books...I hate those books!)

Just finished up after putting them off for so long. Even with flying it was suffering with the Sylph quests being by far the worse. I hated doing them - not a single one felt fun to do or interesting. Then the Sylph main quest... I wanted to strangle that scholar. He made everything 110% harder and more tedious.

Hats off to those that suffered this without flying.

I don't see the issue with not flying—I think it's more immersive.

You can actually turn off mount music in the sound settings.

System --> System Configuration --> Sound --> Play Music When Mounted (Toggle this off)

I know, but I like the zone music, not sure if that plays and to be fair, was never curious enough about it to try it.

Play music when mounted means mount music, not zone music.

I've had it toggled off since they added the option so I can listen to zone music while going around places

Didn't really bother us back in the day since we didn't have another option. We did get rather good at figuring out how to sneak past mobs when possible.

Back in my day flying wasn't even in the game, I couldn't lament what didn't exist but not only that, every time a mob attacked you it would place a brutal movement speed debuff on you, even when mounted. This made the Sylph's especially obnoxious. To this day I come out in a fevered rash every time i get a carry quest with a timer.

Friends and I would take turns guarding one another and killing stuff quickly while the other(s) would sneak around. It was kind of fun actually

I did old WoW rep grinds like Shen'dralar or the Brood of Nozdormu or Ravenholdt. Three quests a day is nothing.

I yelled really loudly and groaned plenty whenever I had to do Sylph dailies.

The other beast tribe quests had me more invested. Particularly the Sahagin and the Amal'jaa. Novv Clutch November baaaaby! It probably also helped that their areas were smaller, with less mage monsters. The issue with the Sylphlands is that everything is ranged, so everything agros at a distance and hits you from there. You might as well not even bother with the mount there, unless you have your Agro Avoidance License.

Doing them with flying at level 80 where you can't even get agro'd sounds like some sort of fever dream of paradise.
