The Deck Of Sixty: A Guide to Sharlayan Cartomancy and Other Amusements by Tesi Suwi-Unpa
I have written a short book on how to use the AST Deck of Sixty for divination. I would love to get some official Square-Enix eyes on this (I think it fits smoothly into the lore and would love to see it published alongside a full deck). If you want the description of how I got started on this project, there's a thread I made in the Lore forums.
This is a first draft, and I'm not sure what I might end up changing. I'm still comparing the minors to make sure there aren't too many similar meanings and that they cover a diverse enough range of possibilities. Also, as I have hopes of getting it in print, I will probably take this link down eventually (and have). In the meantime, I'd love some input and, if you like it, some hype maybe? My prior written works were self-published, so I have no idea how to get the attention of an enormous video game company. More than anything, I'd just really like someone to produce a deck that's nicer and easier to shuffle than my index cards. My next step otherwise is to buy some blank Bicycle cards and go at them with a sharpie. Either way, I definitely intend to provide readings in game, and adjust the system to any changes in lore that come up.
Also, feel free to make a deck and try the system out. I'd love to hear your results. Same goes for the rules for the card games. I haven't actually gotten to playtest any of those yet. I was just trying to write games that fit the descriptions in the Encyclopedia Eorzea.
Update: Just added a new version. Made some minor changes to the Cups and added a bit of language to the Attunement section to mention the existence of elemental arcanas.
Update: Added another new version. Updated some terminology and realized I had the astral/umbral as passive/active backward. This didn't change card definitions, just how I describe the courts, Ladies now being umbral, rather than astral. They are still the active version of their element.
Update: removing the link and setting it to private. I hope everyone who downloaded it while it was available has enjoyed it, but I do hope to get SE to support such a product, and having the whole book available to the public is generally a no-go for that sort of thing.
Major update (just figured out how to get the edit post option on phone): This is now a zine! Just hit shelves yesterday, and we're super excited!
