Are HW Beast tribes decent XP?

With all the suggestions I've gotten for leveling in my own way at my own comfort, I've really appreciated being awakened to the fun of beast tribes for capping out some "almost there" levels in Stormblood and for getting from 70-71 (to get jobs into trust range) in Shadowbringers.

I am now faced with my steepest climb on my last job to go from 51-70, and I think I recall someone saying that ARR and perhaps even HW beast tribes were in a different format from later expansions... so I'm wondering if HW beast tribes are worth seeking out for XP relevant for the time spent.

Am I remembering this delineation of format correctly, and if so are they still as worthwhile as their later incarnations?
