Blue Mage Lvl 80 BIS Gear Theories?

So title says it all. Was wondering what everyone thought would be the new blue gear. I'm kinda hoping Eden has nothing to do with Blue gear, but it looks like it might. What are your thoughts?

It's going to depend on two things: the stats on our level 80 AF gear (several Mirage pieces were BiS at 70, for example), and what new spells we get.

BLU currently tends to fall into two major stat distributions depending on role: Crit/Det > DH for DPS and SpS/Det > Crit for Tanks/Heals (and sometimes DoT DPS, depending. I remember seeing them being somewhat close).

Looking at Crit/Det > DH, we see from Eden Savage BiS: Head, Hands, Earring, Neck and Wrist.

For SpS/Det > Crit, we'd prolly have the following BiS from Eden Savage: Head, Hands, Legs, Earring, Neck, Wrist, and one Ring.

Granted, this is based solely on ilvl, and depending on how well INT weighs, you might be able to do some lower ilvl BiS (ex. Blade's Tights of Casting are Crit/SpS while Eden are DH/SpS, the latter has more SpS but might be able to be made up with materia and provides useful Crit).

it's for BLU so it doesn't really matter at all.
they get a max ilvl set for free and can't do anything that presents an actual challenge outside of just knowing what the mechanics are since they do absurdly more everything than any other class at a comparable level

if anything the challenge will be doing alexander savage so looking at the minimum ilvl gear for that would be what you want to minmax

Alex savage is already being done. Has been being done since level 60. Looking ahead, my group in particular is expecting a second mount set from O4/8/12 and E4/8/12 with the the next major BLU update, so planning ahead for BiS at our next cap is definitely something worth consideration.

didn't realize there was an alexander blue mage mount already...

even still, blue mage does get a full max item level set so which pieces are ideal substats is a mystery until then and by the time that happens level 80 gear will just cost a pittance of poetics.
your only real option if you are that serious about it is to farm out all the eden and blade pieces that can potentially be BiS and not worry about tome gear until the stats on the 80 blue mage set are known

point kind of stands though. Blue mage damage, defense, and healing capabilities are so incredibly far beyond what a normal party can do, and the fact your going in with max item level gear rather than min item level, that just having gear at all and knowing how to avoid the instant wipe mechanics is way more than enough.
