A weird but straight-forward question: How old was Louisoix when the calamity happened?

I can't make up rules for Louis Louis without this info. The fan wiki says he's 72 but does not clarify if that is present age or age at the calamity or how that information was arrived at.

The lore book says he was 72. Considering most people thought he died at the calamity, that's probably his age at that point.

Be careful with the wiki though, there's a lot in there that is misleading or straight-up wrong.

I find the wikis just have difficulty with citing their sources. I've found that they're generally correct if you do the digging yourself, but they won't necessarily help you with where to look. Which is fair enough, generally speaking video game wikis are used to that being pretty self-explanatory, but with something like FFXIV it's not so easy.

That gets most difficult with stuff like 'a largely MSQ-relevant character's age', though; if they say something about Igeyorhm for example, there's very few places you need to check, but if you're digging up Thancred Facts it's hard to know where to look. Louisoix is practically Very Hard Mode, since a majority of his story presence was in 1.0, which is a tough ask to check.

It was in his specific entry in the section with the other Archons. Almost every important character has their age listed but it’s often hard to pick out because they spell it out in full rather than with numbers.

I think what they mean is basically, we have to do some improvisational math to account for that whole 'we thought he was dead but he was really tempered by an angry lizard and hiding somewhere underground' thing, but coming to a conclusion requires knowing if 72 is the age of his presumed death, or his age at the presumed present day the Encyclopedia Eorzea was written (both in and out of universe, the EE are in-universe documents).
