The title pretty much says it all.
When I started out, I did not realize that I am enjoying a "peak FFXIV" while I was playing the game. Events were coming out left and right, and they all had quite a few items that you could earn. It was awesome.
I thought these events will repeat each year. Some special ones maybe repeat every two years, but you get the idea. Well, turns out, I was wrong. Oh, I was so wrong. As time passed, events contained fewer and fewer items. Now? We don't even get events anymore.
I know. I know. COVID and whatnot. That excuse is only valid if we are talking about the dev team adding new items. But I don't really look for new items. I just want the events, like All Saints' Wake back. If they have the same time and wish to appreciate the players paying for their sub, spending money on the Mog Station? Sure, add some more items to the events. But please, don't take out items, don't just give some items, or abandon the entire thing. I don't even care if they'd miss a new area like Ishgard or something. Just put in the old, years old content, please.
At the end of the day, I fear SE might have gone the Activision route. Mog Station makes money. A lot of money. And they just want every cent now. The FFXIV we bought, we loved, and played for endless hours for years - is forever gone. I am not sure if we have the power to nudge SE, the FFXIV team but I still make this post as an attempt.
Ps.: Before I get called a hater, I've been p(l)aying for many many years, I've pre-ordered Endwalker, etc. I still enjoy the core game very much so. I just don't enjoy the direction the FFXIV team is taking, that's all.
