FC without Discord??

I have recently returned to FFXIV since Heavenward. Been trying to get into different FCs but everyone requires Discord. I do not mind voice chat for raiding but discord basically makes in game chat box dead. I do not want to have to constantly look at phone or a second monitor to see FC chat. This is my preference but to me its a big turn off to joining an FC where all communication is on another app.

Does anyone know of any FCs that use in game chat and not Discord?

FCs usually use their game chat it's just that they use discord as well because some of their members are not logged into the game. They may be at work or playing other games. It's hard to ignore discord because it's just so good of an app that lacks the annoyance of signing up to websites all the time, provides immediate chat instead of a message board and lets you get notifications relating to the FC right away.

Some of them use the game chat more than others and whether they do depends on a lot of things, like how many overall active members the FC has, whether those FC members are the type to play all day or only when new content releases, whether they are the type of people that prefer voice and don't like to type much. All you can do really is keep trying new free companies until one suits you.

My FC uses discord for most things, but there have been extensive discussions in in-game chat occasionally. Discord provides for multiple, themed chat channels so members haves places to to to support different things.

Most FCs are going to have discords because the ingame FC tools are not super intensive. As far as communication goes, theres FC text chat and that's it. Having a discord allows for more flexibility with what the FC can do and how to communicate that to members.

Trust me, I am no big fan of Discord I could give you MANY rants about them. BUT you also may not know that, at least for win users only, they provide an "overlay" right in-game where you CAN participate in FC chat (or any other channel) in Discord WHILE maintaining at least a look at what may be going on in the game. It is not atypical for any FC to have more than one group participating in group chat for different content and you may see separate voice channels for Raid 1 Raid 2, Dungeon 1, Dungeon 2, etc. You say you do not mind a voice chat channel for groups doing content together... the game does not provide anything that can accomplish that.

A well know streamer (Zepla) maintains help/support channels on her Discord, some of which seem to be monitored by the most experienced players for significant periods of time. I HAVE been flying to some destination, had a game related question, popped into the overlay while keeping an eye on my flying, asked the question to see an answer literally seconds after landing.

Not a bad system. It's not just the FC, there are more than one Discord servers for every race and class in the game... many of them supporting even savage raiders.

Also, you can set a hotkey to pull up discord via overlay while in-game as well -.o

My FC doesn't require anyone to use discord. However it is a good tool to announce our raids, upcoming events and anything I want to let the FC know about. Much of the time we just use the FC chat to talk and communicate but if I want to let everyone know of plans for FC fun runs and such discord is great.

Anyone using discord uses it so that they can get away with their toxic behavior and garbage mind mentality
