First of all, I would like to deeply apologise to all European players who aren’t eligible to enter this contest. It really saddens the whole European Community Team not be allowed to accept entries from all participants.

We have been striving for opening contests to more countries with our Legal team so as many players as possible could enter. We strongly believe that the more participants the more fun.

Some of you may be wondering “How come Garuda’s contest was open to everyone and not this one”. As Garuda’s contest was based on something that took place solely in-game (the necessary time to defeat Garuda), we were able to open it to all countries. As the nature of this contest is different (forum based only), we had no other choice to restrict it to countries my colleague Sasunaich listed earlier.

Again, we all are sorry for the inconvenience and we understand the frustration from non eligible players.

Unfortunately it is not that easy, for example depending on the kind of contests we do. But please rest assured that we will do our best to expand the list.

I still don't quite understand how the Garuda contest took place in game though...

Garuda had to be defeated in game, therefore other rules applied to this contest. We understand that sometimes it is difficult to see the differences between contests. For contests where all countries can participate please rest assured that we will of course allow everyone to enter.

Let it go. It's a level 1 scarf with no stats. If they could make it available to all they would .

Can't really agree on that, the Garuda times were posted on the forums as well, and the reward is an ingame item on both, mhm

The most glaring difference is that the Diablo contest is for adults only. Minors are only allowed to enter if they are from a smaller subset of countries, and even then require a signed, written statement from a parent or legal guardian to participate.

XIV players can be as young as 13 and no effort was made to discriminate based on age in S-E's contest beyond "we may email your parents." A 13 year-old in the UK isn't allowed to enter the Diablo contest at all.

Pick your poison: exclude minors, or exclude Norse/Swiss/Brazilians/etc.
