Yeah, it's not at all. Some people seem to just be able to get away with it. I am one of those who actually has a ban for using a censored version of a word (yes, even when self-censored).

Always wondered why noone really ever talks in FC chat in FF14 but they will happily chat in Discord. Square Enix you honestly cannot regulate everything guys lol

I mean, they can though. It's their game and their service. Like it or not (and this is the one area of the ToS that even I find a little overbearing) they do have the right and ability to regulate any activity on their platform.
I said earlier in the thread that Discord is just a more robust chat service than any in game communication. You resort to /tell or /party when pugging, but every game I play keeps communication in Discord these days. People freely choose a 3rd party chat program because they are built for communication, where the game chat system has not changed since the days of Ultima Online.
Also, technically, even before this clarification, someone could report FC chat the same as any other. They probably just shed some light on why people were caught off guard for being handed a strike since we all assumed we could only be reported in less private chats.

That makes no sense at all. If all the existing members of the FC are unanimously okay with "spicy" chat, then it makes no sense for them to have to tone down anything for a newcomer who just joined. I would hope the GM response at that point would just be to tell the newcomer to leave the FC and find one where the chat is clean and wholesome."Furthermore, in a Free Company with 10 members, if 9 of the 10 members tolerate the behavior but one does not, and one member files a report and we confirm that a violation has taken place, a penalty will be issued. You should also be aware that even if 9 of the existing Free Company members tolerate certain behavior, if you are joined by a new member who does not tolerate it, at that point your group is no longer unanimously tolerant of the behavior and may be penalized if a report is made."
Hasn't stopped people and it's not like SE seems to really care what goes on in our forums. Also Guidlines? Is that supposed to be what's stopping them?Except you can't. Read the forum guidelines.

But why are you disturbed? I've seen NPCs say things that blow what FC chats say out of the water. Hell in Limsa there's two women who are holding up a man and one says she'll cut off his dick and throw it in the water below. Hell just about any NPC in Limsa is "NSFW"Honestly, I've been feeling quite disturbed by all the vulgar, NSFW, 18+ FC's in the game lately. I can't find a decent SFW FC to just enjoy the game with. To my knowledge the game is rated for 13 year old kids:
"3.3 Profanity and Offensive Language. You may not use profanity or any language that a reasonable person would find offensive. The Game is for players aged 13 and older. You agree to behave accordingly."
Since when are fantasy based mmorpg's a substitute for a NSFW ERP sub-reddit? If you feel the need to use it that way, something is probably wrong with your life and you need counseling.
When I think of vulgarity I basically think of people spamming about '' genital fluids '' in Puppets Bunker.
I guess that the whole '' milkers '' thing in reference to breasts could be considered vulgar too and I'd probably agree, not only is it really cringe but it's also pretty objectifying and creepy.
Some people are just impossible with this and will never agree, but women showing cleavage doesn't mean that they want to be completely dehumanized and reduced to their breasts.
Heck they don't even need to show cleavage, even if they're just slightly above average and covered people will still do it...
Like if you're an adult you should be more mature than that and more capable of self-control.
To some extent I think that this should just be common sense that you don't start going on about this stuff with strangers without knowing that they're okay with it ( and I have a pervy sense of humor, but it's only funny to me if I know that the people joking aren't sexist etc... ).
But apparently it isn't.
So I guess that people should only get in trouble for it if you tell them to stop and they continue at which point it could constitute harassment depending on the circumstances.
But like if I am making a joke and then someone is online who I don't know who sees it and reports me and I get in trouble I think that'd be really stupid.
On the other hand if you're playing with strangers you shouldn't be spamming about where you'd want to stick your pee pee or '' milkers '' because a woman exists and isn't flat/ covered up.
