    Crit build

With all the crit dmg boost on the BLM AF and stuff like Black Pearl Rings and Mage's Choker, do you think it would be a good idea to go for a crit build?
Which weapon would be a good choice: Ivory Staff with crit potency melds, the new Aubriest's Whisper (even though it has m.acc-20) or maybe Ul'dahn Cudgel for another +30 crit rate?
And maybe even switch Blm body for improved Sorcerer's Robe? (depending on Excruciate boost)

Or would a m.atk/int/lightning potency build still be better?

I just bought a Vintage Cudgel that gives +22 Magic Crit Rate and 2 Black Pearl Rings... Critical hits deal waaaay more damage, and I think SE wants us to focus on that with the heavy crit potency oriented AF they gave us

You can get +114~116 Crit Chance with:

    Uldah Cudgel
    Sorc Robes
    Warlock Satchel Belt
    Mages Choker
    Black Pearl Rings +1

Afaik from last patch that should be 10% Crit chance on Lv.50 mobs, less on bosses. Would have to do some testing but not sure that would be an optimal build for max DPS on bosses. INT + Crit Pot. boosted would probably be better.

Max Magic Crit Rate + on Coincounter yielded an average 9% critical increase. Crit Damage did not yield greater DPS than standard INT+MagPot.

As expected, I think the crit + build would be for specific encounters where you need to mass time an excruciate crit attack to 1 shot very dangerous enemies in the future. Also crit rate is affected by dlvl so if you are dealing with lowbies it might change the outcome though I still think std INT+magic potency would be better in all cases.

Crit build might prove better with lots of lower level mobs (Princess), but def. not against a single high lvl one.

After doing some research I've noticed that standard int+piety (lowering resist) had an over all better outcome on single bosses rather than aiming for just crits. Although I can say that crit is very useful for things like thunder combos and such but abilities such as one hits like burst and flare (although flare can easily benefit from excruciate for multi targets) having a higher chance not being resisted and inflicting heavy damage is much more beneficial.

I'm really enjoying this thread though for aiming for better damage output!

Why would you bother w/ Piety? It does nothing worthwhile to BLM in it's current state.

As of now, all investment should be into AMP, Int, MA, & -Enmity. Once you have a solid base set of gear centered around those four attributes you can work on MCP. But properly incorporating MCP into your gear is still in it's early testing stages by a few.

Crit + gear effect came out to roughly 30 "+ crit" required to see a +1% increase in your actual rate when tested on R45 mobs in a 9000+ trial test Seiken and I performed. This was tested on melee swings, but we then performed a less rigorous test that seemed to show magic and physical crits follow similar patterns and formulas.

Given this, if you maxed out say a ~120 crit build, this would only give you a 4% true increase in your natural crit rate. This is assuming the per-point increase doesn't scale down as you increase dLVL.

PIE affects Enfeebling magic which helps the accuracy/potency of Blizzard's Heavy effect, Blizzara's Bind effect, Thundara's Stun effect (out of combo only, I believe), and Flare's DoT.

Although you may have meant damage wise, so if that was the case disregard this
