    Tanks and healers need to have a basic toolkit otherwise you run the risk that one tank or healer will outdo another, it also makes it easier to design fights if you know they group composition has a certain basic kit you can work around.

    For DPS, their basic kit is just do damage. They don't need to worry about mitigating or healing damage as it isn't a primary function, so they can use more actions dedicated to doing damage.

    You also have to remember that SE wants every job to be able to clear every piece of content, so they want to avoid the case where Tank A is much better on fight A than Tank B, or a situation where Tank A and Healer A synergise much better than Tank B and Healer A. This could then leave things open that you could restrict your tanks/healers dependant on the tanks/healers you happen to have.

    I do think that from what we've seen in regards to tank changes, that Dark Knight seems to have gotten the short end of the stick.

    That said I don't think for a second the job will be unplayable and if Drk is your favorite job I don't think you'll have any issue clearing content.

    Oblation is actually pretty good. It has no cast or recast timer and 2 charges. On paper it seems lackluster compared to bloodwhetting but keep in mind bloodwhetting also shares a recast timer with nascent flash. TBN and both charges of oblation can be used in quick succession on the dark knight or any other party members. That is 3 shields that can be used almost simultaneously. That could raise the skill ceiling on dark knight quite a bit depending on the circumstances. Oblation is not just a worse rampart.

    As for potencies they are going to change. How much is uncertain but I wouldn't be surprised if Dark Knights are doing big damage come EW. The change to salted earth+the shadow+ shadowbringer all add damage gain. As far as I can tell they are getting as much or more damage dealing abilities as the other 3 tanks. As big of a meme as the unmend trait is I know why it's there. Now that warrior has 3 charges on their gap closer and pld has holy spirit they atleast gave drk something as well. Ironically gnb (the tank with a gun) has the most issues when forced to move out of melee range.

    I'd like to see changes to living dead and bloodweapon as many other dark knight players do. But I think the job will still perform well.

    We will have to see, Drk is taking over Paladins role as perma Off-tank only now, why? All Drk has is Souleater for sustain and Paladin has 4x Holy Spirit/Circle which all heal, Holy Sheltron, Spirit Within HP potency removed, and Drk can pass TBNs/Oblations. Drk has always been insane for Burst windows better than Warriors. Warriors burst is still very problematic in EW. "Inner Release", it's very likely to still have the meld issue needing Det instead of DH in EW.

    Shadowbringer is GNBs Double Down as a 2 cast and less effective on AOEs, Salt and Darkness makes up for the 2 Bloodspiller cuts, however I think Dark Knight needs rework to feel somewhat different vs Warrior, or Warrior gets the rework which it needs more to be honest. While Pld and Gnb still have their 60s Cooldown, they do not remotely come close feeling the same gameplay if you actually try to play Paladin.
