Rubberbanding in PVE Instances Since Oct 24

So, like the title states, I play on the PC/Windows 10 (not Steam) version of FFXIV, and I am experiencing some nasty rubber banding issues in zones and instances where PVE combat occurs.

It has occurred in zones like Zadnor, the Sea of Clouds, Kholusia, any Trial Roulette and Normal Raid Roulette instance, and so on.

This type of thing does not occur in cities or housing areas, oddly enough. Nothing like that in Mist, Lavender Beds, Idyllshire, Ul'dah, etc.

I play on Sargatanas/Aether, and I just am at my wits end as to what it could be. I tried power cycling all my devices, replacing a power supply that I thought was responsible, and I am just beyond my wits right now.

I am on a Ryzen 5 5600X CPU, a Radeon RX 5700 XT GPU, an ASUS TUF Gaming 550M-PLUS Wi-fi motherboard (connected wirelessly because an Ethernet wired connection is not feasible in my living space right now), and my ISP is AT&T (Texas). For now.

I'm hoping another ISP will soon be able to come down to where I live, and provide a suitable alternative.

I have not tried using my iPhone as a mobile hotspot to see if that's the issue, but I'm not sure it would solve anything.

If it's my motherboard's built-in Wi-Fi being faulty, I am going to be very angry. But at least I do have a backup motherboard (an ASRock B450m-AC) ready to go if need be.

What can I do to alleviate the issue? I am afraid I don't know how to post any sort of traceroutes in here, since I can't seem to find the IP address for either Aether or Sargatanas. Or is this a case of the pathing nodes acting up again? It would not be the first or last time this happened.

Any help from anyone here is most appreciated, especially if it's put in simpler terms I can understand.

UPDATE: I don't know if this qualifies as a "work-around" for my issue I posted, but having a Twitch stream playing in the background seems to alleviate any rubber banding I had. At least as of the morning of Wednesday, Oct 27 (around 11AM central time).

So, maybe Twitch is redirecting my node pathing when I play FFXIV (and other games) too? I also had to put both my monitors at 60hz and cap the framerate in FFXIV to 60 FPS to avoid any resource or display issues, but that's a fair compromise I can make.

It does seem weird, though. Can anyone corroborate what I posted?

Are you able to connect to the hot spot to see if that creates a more stable connection? Additionally, is the game allowed through the fire wall and any anti virus protection?

Thanks for responding!

I have not tried the hot spot yet, Dynratygus, since I haven't seen the need to. The lag has gone away for the most part, except for a recent instance just a few minutes ago.

I was on The Hunt in Lakeland when I got one spike during The Hunt. It did not last long, only 4 or 5 seconds.

My firewall and antivirus protections do allow me to run the game, so that's not it.

Good morning Janyd, thank you for the updated reply.

I understand you mentioned the issue has gotten slightly better on your end. If this is not the case, could you try disabling background applications and do a clean boot by opening the task manager and selecting the “Start up” tab. Then, disable everything under this tab and restart the PC. Additionally, please be sure to have the Operating System and Internet Explorer most up to date as well.

I have already done a clean boot and the results are the same. No improvements, but also no worse conditions either.

I'm just wondering this now (please let me know if it's unfounded or coincidental):

I wonder if having a stream open for viewing on a browser tab while playing FFXIV is in some way connected to how I am able to avoid the aforementioned rubberbanding issue I had.

Either way, I am not taking a chance with at least not having one open until I can tell for sure. I will go attempt another test shortly.



EDIT: Testing has concluded, and the connection issues did not appear (meaning the game is working as intended). For now.

All I did was queue in for "Cape Westwind" as AST to test instanced content. The Trial was successful in all regards, thankfully.

No browser tabs were open, no other applications were used (aside from Logitech G Hub since it's needed for my G600 mouse's keybinds to work with FFXIV's hotbar keybinds), no issues at the moment.

I am wondering if it was a pathing issue, and if the "bomb cyclone" from late October had anything to do with my connection to the Aether Datacenter or not.
