You're making it sound like having to log back in is a massive inconvenience. If you're gone so long that you got booted to that screen, then you were gone long enough that you should have just logged out.

I turn down the sound system, so noise is reduced greatly.

To get out of the movies, use the <esc> key to get back to the menu.
