Everyday disconnect. Willing to do w/e i need to, to get it to stop.

This has been going on for a year and it's not my first post here. Over the years it comes and goes it seems but here lately it has been pretty constant. Previously I might have come off passive-aggressive in my post by stating this is the only game that does this and I mean that is true. Just recently played new world for a couple of weeks by amazon. A company that has never made an MMO and after the first few days with all the influx of players I didn't d/c once in the 3 weeks I played it. So it makes me want to be like SE please fix your servers, but maybe it is a setting or some port or something.

So like the title says willing to do w/e you need me to do. Willing to try it all. The simple fact is I have been playing for 10 years. I am addicted I will keep coming back, but like please help me enjoy the activities that I want to do and not have them be the cause of my frustration. I am in the Central US and i play on primal. Maybe I need to go to aether or crystal?

Frontline PVP dcing in here causes you to lose all your bh and you probably die too, maybe even kicked out of the group for being "offline".

Feast Literally in here it could be the reason why your team loses the game since it's 4v4 and you drop all your medals. Mixed in with win trading. This is super frustrating.

POTD/HOH D/cing in a group is w/e you can come back, but when you d/c solo it's considered a wipe. You have to start over. Floor 198 d/c gg start back @ 0 if you are trying to necro or lone hero. 12 hours + wasted... I Love this content but I don't even risk it anymore.

Ocean fishing during spectrals/dungeons and raids etc. etc. if you think about each one of these scenarios you can find the issue of d/cing every day and sometimes multiple times a day.

TLDR: Discconecting affects every aspect of the game and if it was once a month it would be w/e but it's every day and usually multiple times a day. I am addicted and probably will keep coming back no matter what but I would appreciate any help with this cause it keeps me from doing certain content and is a source of major frustration. I will do w/e test/provide information etc.

No doubt a hardware problem, but that doesn't mean your FF is innocent. Usually a DC is caused by internet failure BUT like with all programs it can fail if it is overwhelmed by input.

You can try several things: lowering your graphics, upgrading hardware and software, reinstalling, closing other programs while playing, buying a portable wifi buffing tool (idk what they're called but it's a thing forrealsies), even cleaning your hard drive might help.

Are you on wi-fi or ethernet connection? I had similar issues a month or so ago. I had a PS4 Pro connected via wi-fi, and started DCing every day, when I had better connection than most people I know. I ended up buying an Ethernet cable, and since then, I barely DC anymore.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled a couple of times, here recently when I came back from new world. So I have tried that I mean I will give it another go. Graphics are on high. So i will lower them to standard for a week and see if that helps. No other applications are open but discord. Maybe some background apps. I will look more into it. I pretty ocd about stuff that is installed on my desktop so I constantly removed inactive stuff but I just ran a disk clean up will defrag now too last defrag was 20 days ago. Not on wifi so not sure how the wifi buffing tool would help. Thank for you all your suggestion tho and will give them a try.

Yeah, I am connected through ethernet. It does go to my wifi router but it is directly connected to my pc.

This probably has nothing to do with FFXIV even if you think it does.
Trial and error until you find the issue. Take your computer to someone else's house and play. Borrow another computer and see if it does it. Replace everything, get a new ISP, get a new router etc. If its been 10 years of this garbage a bit of money spent shouldn't kill you.

It hasn't been going on for 10 years. It's been a year off and on. If it happen to any other game sure I would believe it has nothing to do with ffxiv, if numerous trace routes failing at their server weren't shown by me and many other players from the community. I have had other people on the same internet playing ffxiv and I d/c or they d/c but the other doesn't. I have spent money on a new router and on upgrading my pc. I dont know how this would not have something to do with ffxiv. I can dual box and one get 90k without the other. How does that happen? I assume it could be cause my pc couldn't handle both instaces after a time, but wouldn't it give me a direct x error and not a 90k saying i lost connection to the server. Even still why just one. Sorry i just dont understand.

For what it's worth, I had the same symptoms. Could be connected to multiple things, nothing else showed so much as a blip. Even in FF14, there would be no rubberbanding/stuttering/other symptoms of lag. Then 90k out of nowhere, even while everything was playing completely smoothly.

Anyways, good luck solving it. These kind of issues are so frustrating.

FWIW, I had issues with FF14 disconnecting until I started using a VPN. Well, I was having even bigger issues with another game and all the technical advice never suggested a VPN but I thought "why not try it, I've tried everything else." And it worked. And in FF14 my disconnects went away too. So, I guess my ISP must be messing with my connections?

Anyways, might not be related to your issue at all. Probably isn't, even. But I'd suggest trying it just to rule it out (There's a free VPN out there but I can't remember the name). And other things that might seem unlikely, because you never know.

That makes sense in a way and could have definitely solved your issue. If you were having issues with an early hop in your routing was dropping packets and by using a VPN w/e server you are now coming from avoids that hop alltogether.

I am not sure it would fix my issue tho as you can see here, on a side note I have tried mudfish tho.

The first bit is the hostname/ip address the 2nd bit is pack drop %. There is hardly any packet drop till 204.2.229.234. Which i mean i dont know if this is an issue or not. I am dont know how much packet loss would cause me to disconnect. So i am not saying this is the issue. It just one the thing i can actually see.

Hmm. So I just ran winMTR against 204.2.229.10 and I'm also getting a pretty high lossrate on 204.2.229.234. But, maybe it just doesn't like pings or something? Because I've been playing every day without issue.
