Need help with getting better computer perf!

Hey all, so a few months ago I got a 3090 FE. Way fancier then what I probably would ever need.

However I recently ran the benchmark for Endwalker and I'm only getting a "High" score.

Since this is my first really nice GPU I'm wondering if my CPU or RAM are holding it back.

I have a i5-10600K CPU and 16GB of RAM. Would I get a huge boost by upgrading them? Or am I just not properly using my GPU?

Did you download the proper drivers for your new video card from nVidia's website (do not use the default drivers that Windows installs).

The CPU should be good from a quick google search, the RAM is more than enough for FFXIV. When you play, do you have your settings maxed? Does the game run well with maxed settings?

Other things that could interfere is other programs that are running when you run the benchmark. Make sure it's the only thing running at the time. (I know someone who did the benchmark while logged into the game and wondered why he got a bad rating lol).

Benchmark should be giving you a grading in numbers, don't recall seeing "Low, Medium, High" for a grading. Are you perhaps looking at the line that says "1920 x 1080 High Desktop"? That's the settings the cutscene is running at, as in System Settings like you see in game.

Edit: Oh wait nevermind, I see it showing at the very end. Yeah try a driver update. Your CPU was released 2020 so it's still really new and 16 GB RAM is plenty. Your hardware specs is more than enough.

should also check your RAM speed in the bios. typically it wont run at its potential without setting it to do that. for intel I think its just enabling XMP 2

Do you have a framerate limit on?

Benchmarks score based on framerate, so if you set a limit, it won't score as high.

You should be able to see the gpu load somewhere but I’d wager it’s not cpu or ram bottlenecking.
FYI this game isn’t very cpu heavy at all.

Thank you all for your help! I figured out my issue. For some reason I get a huge dip in perf when running it with "Full Screen"

I switched to Borderless Windowed and my FPS and perf shot up sooooo much. Got the "Extremely High" rating like I was hoping for. Thanks all!

CPUs today takes advantage of better cooling. You might wanna check the temperatures.

RAM speed also matters for 6 or more cores CPUs. Also, top end GPUs gets bottlenecked if you run it at lower resolution like 1920x1080.
