Just completed Heavenward on stream

It took less time than I was expecting but I finally completed Heavensward after a few months.

I want to say this and to the devs, this was a beautiful and incredible expansion that I will proudly place alongside Wrath of the Lich King as my all-time favourite MMO expansions.
I've enjoyed every bit of time with Heavenward's base game which was S Tier but post-heavenward made it S+ Tier. While I did enjoy playing ARR and believe post-ARR made the game stronger. Heavenward had everything it ever wanted and gave everything to us all.

I'm ready to play Stormblood, the black sheep of FFXIV. Some people like it, some people don't, like Mists of Pandaria.

Thanks to all the players I've encountered and having an Eternal Bonding with a character that I decided my character took her last name instead of his own.

I dunno why Stormblood gets so much hate, it's not as good as Heavensward but it's not bad and it has great moments.
If anything it actually felt a bit too short which was my main issue.

A lot of the things I see people complain endlessly about are things that I've seen new players and streamers love and I dunno what some people are talking about really.
People just tend to be far more negative on forums.

They were originally just going to have the first part of it be the entire expansion, but it wasn't enough content and that is why it is the way it is. It also makes sense in the story.

Didn't really work out for me. Left some parts of the story high and dry and some zones emptier than my stomach after I haven't eaten for 12 hours. Not looking forward to taking my 2nd alt through StB. Particularly 4.2 to 4.5, man was that part of StB drawn out and miserable. But at least SMN's rework will make trudging through 4.1+ palatable. Did not help that StB zones are the most boring things I've had the displeasure of laying my eyes upon. If I wanted to look at barren wastelands I could just walk outside my backdoor and gaze at the empty cornfield without sunglasses on, and that's free.

I have more fun going through ARR than I do StB. Only thing I really liked about StB was the login screen. But StB is really good at one thing; making you appreciate the other expansions.

For me the story was really meh in comparison with Heavensward. Didn't help it kept jumping back and forth.

It wasn't the worst experience ever but it was far from my favorite expansion. Mainly because the plot was rushed and it really wasn't that engaging with the post launch patches. It was only when they started setting up Shadowbringers that I began enjoying it again.

I didn't hate Stormblood at all. It wasn't my favourite, but I enjoyed it. I think the main takeaway is, go in with an open mind and take it head on as you want. You will decide yourself if you enjoy it or not.

Stormblood is amazing and the graphics and technology is better than Heavensward. In order to appreciate Stormblood you have to think about what a lot of other companies would have done with it. I won't go into detail because it might spoil it.

The reason it feels short for a lot of people is yes in part, you can't actually make an expansion take real life years to complete, but most people skip sidequests. Sidequests add to how long you spend in each area getting to know the residents and usually extend the time it takes from a few days to 2 weeks.

The aesthetic is not normally for me (or many others), but you only have to endure the aesthetic for that expansion so if you focus on just enjoying it and soaking it in, you can really enjoy the aesthetic while it lasts and then you have good memories of it.
