[Suggestion] Color Blindness and the in game maps

I have found a few problems involving the maps and markers on them. My husband has deuteranopia, at least he cannot tell the reddish quest areas from the rest of the light tan map. I usually have to help him find the areas, unless he runs his mouse cursor over the map until it finds the area and the quest text pops up for the area on the map.

Would it be possible to set up a set up to help people who have a form of color blindness see the maps. I even have trouble sometimes, when I have been up too late (usually one of the animals in our household or my husband aren't feeling well), seeing the differences between the markers for the quest areas and the map color itself.

One solution I have come up with is allowing the player to change the color of the markers on the map. Another solution would be, if the player chooses a color blindness mode, like the one for deuteranopia. The color scheme for the map changes to something visible to that form of color blindness.

I have a filter on my computer to understand what my husband is seeing. I can see the problems for those who have a form of color blindness. I do know that there is an option for the various forms of color blindness, but it has not changed the map colorations.

Thank you. Ideas and additions for this suggestion is welcome.

I take it you've tried using the color blindness aids in the game settings?
If those aren't working for your husband, what kind of tool would help him?

He has tried the in game color blindness options. The map has elements that are hard to see, even with the color blind options active. He has a hard time seeing a difference between the reddish circles for target quest areas and the tan background for the maps. He usually has me get up and come around to his monitor to point out where the areas are for him. The color blind options are good for the world as a whole, he's adjusted name tags so he can see them easier against the background. It is the map he has the problems with. Like the red target marks on the map are similar in tone. He sees reds and greens as browns and yellows mainly. The greens and reds are the defective cones for him.

Suggestions I can think of are maybe using a higher contrast in tint/tone/shade. Another Possibility, is a way to change the color for the target quest areas that he (and others with similar problems) can use to make the map easier to read. Even I sometimes have trouble late at night discerning between the tones of the red target areas and the tan of the map. The arrow inside the target area, when he is above or below the area, that he can see if he zooms in on the map and scrolls around until he finds it. If he is on level with it, mousing over the area will allow him to find it, without my help. He has no problem with the FATE target areas, as they are a blue and darker in tone than the rest of the map.

I am trying to think of others who might have blue cone problems, or even full color blindness (no visible color, black/white). I usually have the types of color blindness at my finger tips, but not right now.

The images here show the issue being discussed above https://imgur.com/a/oDlXNht

In game telegraphs can be an issue too depending on the area.

The problem is that the options in the settings only adjust the colors slightly, but still force a reliance on the colors.

A simple solution to this issue, would be to implement an option to turn on a pattern for these things.
