Frustrating Quests MSQ/MQS? - So close to the finish

3 weeks into the game. I was shot and have this thing called PTSD. Which I never mention. But stupid $*%& can confuse me, I think this is one. This is only the 3rd time FF has confused me. But, I am lost! Quick question is:
Aside from youtube is there a great website for questing other than the one I found ffxiv.consolegameswiki

I am on MSQ "Light of Inspiration"
objective: Bring something inspirational

It is just not fun, it is does not feel like exploring or an adventure. To me, the noob it feels like awful questing with no support. While I will do what someone says if they explain to me what to do(PLEASE DO OMG) I am more interested in knowing how I figure this out on my own.

When I try to learn about quests. Google frequently sends me to this site:

I have to switch to another job to progress, correct? I want to tank if so. Somehow I figured out it is this quest https://ffxiv.consolegameswiki.com/w...Too_Many_Scars correct? But if I wanted to heal, dps or something else it is a completely different chain?

What I think. I must find the lvl 1 job quest for tanking. Do that. Then come back to this crystal place. Then do these quests. Then go back to the main quest thing. Then eventually finish the Main Quests until Endwalker.

Is there a semi rational way I could put these pieces together without /yelling or endlessly asking FC? It feels like to me I am being forced to do multiple quests which really share no relation.

No. Completing any of the role quests will suffice.

For this MSQ you need to complete any of the Shadowbringers role quest chains. They start in The Crystarium in the bar outside the inn (The Pendants).
After you finish any of those quest chains you'll get a crystal you can show to him to advance the MSQ.

Yes. Each role gets their own quest chain.

As for how you were supposed to figure it out on your own: the MSQ told you so.

There was dialogue in the MSQ after you first enter the crystarium around level 71 or 72 pointing out these quests and basically saying "you should do these blue unlocks quests. They'll be important later."

But you're right. How and why these things are connected TO YOU is really only clear after the fact, but showing the Smith a crystal for inspiration is a pretty arbitrary and unrelated flag.

I suggest stop rushing the game content and take your time with other quests apart from MSQ.
At times I also feel less fun with the MSQ. I'd go unlock stuff and grind relic weapon, among other things.

This is your adventure/exploration. The game doesn't force you to only finish MSQ to enjoy the game.

Focus on having fun. This is not your second job that you need to achieve things to get your paycheck

The quest writers have gotten slack about putting clear instructions in the journal to remind you what to do, but you seem to have gotten the key message from the dialogue: do one of the role quests. That will provide you with the "inspiring thing" that you need to present to Grenoldt.

As already discussed, the four quest chains are independent and you can do any of them to proceed.

The other important thing to know is that it's not a choice of doing one and missing out on the others. You can see all four stories and also unlock a fifth by completing them all.

So right now to continue the MSQ you just need to do the quest line for the job you already have at level 79/80, and later you can level up your tank and come back to see the tank quest line.

Also if you don't care about which tank you play and just want to level one for the story, GNB starts at level 60 so that would save you some time.

You don't need to level a tank, so that part is solved.

The role quests are unfortunately rather disconnected from the main story, especially now when you just want to get to the ending – I think they should have at least been designed to wrap up earlier before Mt Gulg so the path was clear for this last rush of MSQ. But they are what they are now, and you have to do it.

I think the poster made an incorrect assumption based on your statement that you feel you were not given sufficient information and that you aren't finding it fun.

The game tells you twice that completing a role quest will be necessary to continue the final part of the 5.0 MSQ. It's done through the grey information windows that occasionally appear during the MSQ and look distinctive from the normal dialog windows. The first time is when the role quests initially become available shortly after completing Holminster Switch (though a lot of players shrug it off at that point because the end of the MSQ seems so far away). The second time is when you need to have completed a role quest to continue any farther.

It's generally the players who are rushing through the MSQ and automatically click through windows without reading that miss the pertinent information, then are less than satisfied by their experience.

The main takeaway should be that those grey information windows are included in the MSQ for a reason and players should make certain to read them carefully when they appear. They will not auto-advance like dialog boxes in cutscenes - you must click through them to clear them. While a few are simply "you have now unlocked this mount/minion/emote", most have important information the player needs to know.
