I had this happen to me once, I hadn't signed in elsewhere or using a different computer. It was months after I started playing and my IP changes every 36 hours, so I don't think it's related to either one or the other.
If it were strictly IP, I would have the problem more frequently, if it was strictly about using the same PC, I would never have it.
Lately, I got a second PC so me and my wife can play together, she uses the old one while I moved to the newer one. We didn't have any problems at first, but then my router renewed its IP lease (like an hour after we started playing together), we both got disconnected at the same time because of that, and when we went to log in again, she had to change her password (not me). Never happened since, and I juggle both PCs on a regular basis now, depending on whether she plays or not (the newer PC isn't as powerful, it's a budget machine we got so we could play together, totally not a powerhouse)
I'd guess that sort of thing will happen a little more often at first, and SE's system probably learns over time that you're behind a dynamic IP, or you occasionally use other PCs, and won't freak out unless something is really weird (like logging on a PC in Russia 5 minutes after logging out in the UK, there's no way in hell you could have gotten there that fast)
Like others have said, if that bothers you, you can get an authenticator, or wait for SE to release one for smartphones like Blizzard did. I got one with the Collector's edition but never bothered to use it.

get a token

Did the same to me when I brought my laptop to a convention, The easy solution is to set up a security token, then the lockout feature is disabled as long as you enter the security code.

Whoa whoa... hell...
So your telling me the game does detect if you log in from a different IP...
So allow me to run this toward you... instead of forcing me to use my security token, Draining it's batteries a little after every use, every damn time. Instead, when ever I log into a different IP address, it request the security code.
Also cutting down the price from 9.99 to something reasonable like 3.99. Hell, if the reason why it ain't free is cause they need money, gimme the app and chock it full of ads that I only have to look at say I switch computers every so often.

Anyone complaining about the extra security has never had to deal with SE's customer service directly.
Taking 2mins to reset a psw when you change IPs is nothing compared to having to call their customer service, get stuck on hold for 20mins only to be told there is nothing to do or just get hung up on. Then you have to repeat 4 more time to get someone who will listen, who will then unlock you account.
Then you get in game find out all your stuff is stolen, call them back (Repeat the above btw) and then be put on a 2 month long investigation which you get 1/10th of your lost stuff back at the end.
Yea, the 2mins are more then worth it in the long run.
For ppl worried about the token dieing i have used my token 2+ times every day since i got it back in 2009 and its still going. As for ppl scared of loosing it idk what to say.
