Could it possibly be worse than it is now?A potential "rework" for Scholar scares me more than it excites me. We know what their current healer design is like, especially with Sage. Wouldn't a rework just simplify everything about Scholar while giving it nothing to do during downtime that it isn't already doing now?
You could have more heals you rarely interact with, they could remove Ruin II and Energy Drain because they want SCH to be even more separated from ACN/SMN than it already is and give them nothing in return except an Assize rip off that doesn't even do damage but instead gives a party wide shield and recovers some MP for Scholar, they could attach a "free adlo" mechanic to Physick, they could remove it's 1 DoT because managing that while trying to heal is only for incredibly skilled players or something. They could adopt the idea that Scholar needs to be a very simple and "beginner" healer because it's an ARR healer and put a focus on GCD healing onto it and then tell anyone who wants the old healing style to just go play Sage because Sage is just Scholar's healing kit for the most part so really you're not losing anything! They could determine that Chain is too powerful and the only reason people bring Scholar so instead they turn it into a single target buff that does the same thing Chain currently does so people don't feel like Scholar is a must need pick. They could keep in the fairy cast time for summoning it!
