Why are people saying the doll is creepy ?

I'm legitimately confused . It's EXPENSIVE for sure , but has nobody heard of ball jointed dolls before ? The amount of effort ,photography and money spent in that hobby ? It's kinda lame that people are roasting it?

Internet hive mentality. One person on tumblr twitter found it creepy so now everyone echoes that they find it creepy too to feel that they belong. Because they are quirky.

I've met plenty of people unnerved by dolls in general, no matter how beautifully crafted they are. It's okay to respect the craftsmanship of something yet not like it as much/have a taste for it.

People are just intentionally over reacting because they somehow felt personally attacked by the minor change in the Sage job icon. Not really anything to be concerned about.

It's the uncanny valley effect. The closer to something gets to looking human without being human, the more disturbing people find it. However that point at which it goes from being something we like to something we hate isn't the same for every person. I'm in the camp that thinks this looks disturbing.

I don't think the doll on the launcher is creepy myself, but the image in this thread is. It looks like a dead girl made to look like a doll, to me.

I really don't like dolls. Ever since I was a small child, I hated them. Porcelain dolls and the image you posted as well as the Y'shtola doll all creeps me out. It's just unnerving seeing a blank gaze and feeling like the eyes follow you... hate it. I never really can look at the launcher for long for that reason.

I can respect the people for handcrafting them, but it doesn't mean that I have to like them or have to agree with people who do like them.

Don't let it worry you. In such a broad forum as the web, people contrast and demographics clash. If you have experience (or even preference) in the area, there isn't anything wrong with it. Like many things it's a stylised beauty. There are millions of collectors and people who will love it just fine! No need to feel insecure about it anyway, if that is the effect they have had. If you like, love or collect, thats all that should worry you. Bit like when I am with a crowd of classical musicians and someone breaks out the rap music (lol); just accept that not everything is everyones cup of tea. I think its pretty. Enjoy!
