PT-BR Subtitles and South America servers

South America comunnity is getting bigger, specially in Brazil, the country which represents the 4th bigger gamer community of the world. Big streamers are trying to play the game too, but unfortunately the majority part of the SA public have problem with the actual language. FFXIV is a big MMO, new data centers and specially new subtitles would be fantastic for the game.

As a player who tries to raid (emphasis on trying, since we have to turn on VPN and hope for the delay not killing us), it's very frustraring to pay the subscription to play with very high ms. I mean, c'mon Square, we know you guys don't want to invest big money on us, third world country and all, but at least we wanted a NA server on the East Coast of the US, we would play with at least 120ms, and this would be a big improvement.
I'm from the South of Brazil, and with VPN I can't play with less than 180ms, I almost cried trying to clear E9S, since this fights are very punitive. Please, really. You guys did an Oceania Server, why can't you do the same to us? Are we less important? And I'm not even talking about translating the game, just giving us some "Quality of Life", as you guys always say. I completely agree with OP.

I see this argument being thrown around alot but how many SA actually play the game and have interest in playing FFXIV? Cause that's very relevant since it likely cost millions in investment for SE to translate the game, hire VA's, establish new DC, contract DC etc etc.

I would be so happy to have an East coast server. I find it hard enough to imagine that a game developer that's been around this long in an industry this mature doesn't appreciate yet just how large North America is and how many issues many people can have accessing the servers just within NA, let alone people outside NA.

That doesn't apply to SE, I've seen it in other games, but at least in one other publisher they moved the servers to a central location in one case, making everyone fairly happy. Another had servers on both East and West coasts - which was the best experience and the only time I didn't need a VPN.

I'm not that needy, just a server in Florida or Texas would make things much better regarding Ping (of course I would love a BR server) and we still would keep in touch with NA community.

Even though my native language is portuguese, I don't agree that if we gained a new localization it should be in portuguese. I would rather have it turn into spanish since it would reach way more people (most of latin america, spain and a good deal of USA citizens). To be honest, I never understood why this game has a localization for german/french and not spanish. I mean, the more, the merrier, however it's an odd decision to exclude this language from the list.

Now, at least an east coast server would be heaven, really, and even USA players could benefit from it.

Not gonna happen, sadly... As a brazilian I can say that there are many players here, but just not enough to make a regional server and localization for the game's language a deal here...

It’s a big step. Should SE build server infrastructure, they would take on huge financial burdens, in addition to responsibility for any issues that arise whether it be maintenance or hiccups in connection.

It boils down to how much the return of investment would be, and how well their investment can be maintained at a quality level they find acceptable.

Blame EU laws. From what I understand, to sell the game in the EU, German and French are the two required languages. Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, and anything else is not required.

My sympathy from New Zealand. Brazil seems like a beautiful country with beautiful people.

Really stupid law. This is the reason games come out later there or used to isn't it?
