Endwalker needs a Chrono Trigger questline

I mean... it's a Square property. No reason they couldn't totally include a questline that takes you across the ages and unlocks several dungeons in each age, with a final Trial series that pits you against Lavos.

Lavos, phase 1, would be a boss fight against a massive opponent, cuz it's huge.

Lavos, phase 2, would be inside the lavos shell against its ultimate evolution, with the ages clashing against the boundaries of time while you kick the tar out of it.

Drops could include Magus' outfit and scythe for reaper, a Crono's outfit and the rainbow blade katana for SAM, Frog's outfit and the Masamune (II) for DRK, Lucca's outfit and raygun for MCH, Ayla's outfit (or a prehistoric variation for males) and Stone/Bronze/Iron fists for MNK, Marle's outfit and a unique bow modeled somewhat after her crossbow for BRD, and finally a Robo pet.

The outfits are obviously not tied to jobs, I just wrote it that way as they tie together.

But yeah, this would be AWESOME to have a 2-parter Trial Line vs Lavos and Final Evolution Lavos.

Unfortunately, SE seems to have little interest in the Chrono games, to say nothing of their development teams long moving onto other things - the fact nothing ever came of the third rumoured game is pretty clear SE are not interested in it too much.

It's also not helped that crossover events in FFXIV seem to be connected to current titles due to be released or recently released, or intellectual properties that have some personal connection with Yoshi (I mean, we haven't even had a FFVII crossover event yet and FFVII is apparently Yoshi's personal favourite FF title!), so sadly the chances of a Chrono series crossover are practically zero I'm sorry to say. ; ;

I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to be so blunt. ; ; (I love the Chrono games too).

Still, stranger things have happened, and I could have worded that a lot more tactfully than I did, so then, even if it is highly unlikely, in these crazy times anything is possible now that I think about it more.

So please, don't give up! Don't listen to those ramblings of a silly cat lady (me)! Don't lose hope! Anything is possible! (And incidentally, there is a lot of speculation that the 'sound' that brought in 'the Final Days' that will be explained in greater detail in EW, will be Lavos, or something like it (as a crossover), so.... maybe... you're onto something.)

I wonder if there are potential copyright problems with going back and using the original Chrono characters, given that they were designed by 'Dragonball' Toriyama. Also with Sakaguchi no longer working at SE perhaps they want to distance themselves from that era, as this was a personal project of his?

I would love to see it though - along with the original Seiken Densetsu 3 characters.

I don't think it NEEDS one, but I was certainly hoping for a Lavos raid. And apparently one of the original creators of Chrono Trigger is pretty clingy to the IP and not one to lease it out for crossovers and stuff.

That said, one of the revealed zones totally looks like Zeal and we haven't learned what the Trial series will be yet. I could theoretically see us getting a Lavos trial series. After all, Lavos is 3 fights (The shell, the inside monster thing, then the true form). It's unlikely, but I mean it theoretically COULD happen.
