Idk why people like the divination changes. It was always available when I needed it and at least fishing for the correct seals occasionally gave me something to do.

I hated it because to me with old stormblood cards I had way more choices and things to do with a card whether to increase potency/make it aoe or make duration longer, shadow bringer system is whacko all 6 cards doing the same buff and 3 becomes half only effective if you end up in a situation example? have a light party with 2 melee dps and a tank yah its stupid, I aint gonna fish a range card to throw it on myself as the healer who cant outbeat actual dps on dps, oh you wanna use a card on a person but guess what your missing that one seal and have no choice but to maybe redraw to get that seal, oh you throw a card prepull before battle and the seal dont count. Many reasons sb divination was whacko. I welcome this end walker change to divination 1billion%
It's because the seals mechanic went into something else that might feel better to use them on.
At the moment it is you stack 3 seals from 3 cards that at basically The Balance, if you can't use one you use it on another version of the Balance that is if you weren't able to redraw and get the version of The Balance you wanted and the reward? The Balance for everybody.
With the changes you still are stacking seals from what is basically The Balance but your Minor Arcana is no longer The Balance and you're building up for different effects. Though it does include a damage buff but at least it is with other bonuses.
One complaint was that AST cards lost meaning and lacked substance when they turned them all into The Balance. This change brings a little of that back without I guess compromising the reasons they made this change in the first place.

It's quite clear from your responses that you have 0 idea how to play any healer at a high level. There is no such thing as "bonus damage". The fact that you treat any healer damage as bonus damage fails to realize that, if enough damage isn't dealt, the boss will flat-out kill everyone, and you cannot heal or mitigate that at all. You will die. End of story. How do you prevent that? Everyone pumps out as much damage as possible. High-level healing meta involves you using as few healing spells as possible. These changes are awful because it robs AST of much of its consistency. Why bring an AST when it might be able to give and deal a ton of damage when you can bring a good WHM and guarantee it? These changes do nothing but punish you for trying to optimize your play, the exact same problem SCH currently has.

That's a very meta way of looking at those changes when it is well known that pretty much any comp can clear content, and that will probably be the case in 6.X too. It's quite clear from your responses that you have 0 idea how to play any healer at a high level. + AST is a buff healer, which is obviously not going to be as consistent as a WHM in terms of damages anyways, so adding a tiny layer of inconsistency on top of it is fine.
It's not like the inconsistency will bring its DPS to 0.
From your point of view, jobs like dancer, bard or even red mage are probably completely flawed as well just because of the nature of proc-based abilities being a DPS loss if you are not lucky. Might as well bring a BLM and MCH all the time. Oh and maybe they should remove crits from the game because it is inconsistent too?

You said it better then what I would have defended myself making points of why ANY job is fine and ANY job can clear anything. I have healed High End, and I agree with your comments. The person that seems to think AST is flawed because they believe there is no "bonus damage". Most jobs have something to increase damage, and that's what makes AST so unique. It is quite literally the Oprah of bonus damage. You get a card, you get a card, (pops divination) EVERYBODY GET'S A CARD!That's a very meta way of looking at those changes when it is well known that pretty much any comp can clear content, and that will probably be the case in 6.X too.

To the point of the enrage timer and if me as a healer doesn't do damage we all wipe...this is pure non-sense for a AST. I'm doing damage all the time. Combust, Malefic. Usually spamming them, but to say cards aren't damage is just silly. Because they are. That dragoon is hitting 6% harder with my Balance card. Eat that enrage timer! Crap RNG was little rough...Here BLM take this lady card and enjoy 8% more DPS for 15s. *middle finger at enrage timer*
It's no different then Chain Strategem when you think about it. I personally think people just don't understand that EACH healer has something different, and each healer has a different way of DPSing. For AST it's the damage buff healer. If you ain't throwing cards....your just bringing the team down. And to argue about the new Lord and Lady?! It is literally FREE! Cost no MP, doesn't break seals, and literally benefits everyone. Toss out a Lord...some DPS, which helps kill boss faster. Toss out a Lady...some heals which allow WHM or SCH to DPS little more.
Cause you always have the one or more person that will always NEVER be satifisfied? I just dont even bother replying or paying attention to it no more am glad we got a stormblood feel back of lady and crown but with better potencies and now an aoe version, you have no idea how I love this, cant wait to be healing with ya friend when dc comes!!!!!, though ill be making sage my main now and ast my sub. Rip am ready to fully put away all my whms weapons lol, sch never too cared for that healer since day one so cant comment on them. You said it better then what I would have defended myself making points of why ANY job is fine and ANY job can clear anything. Yes, I also love that they brought back the "feel" of Stormblood cards, even if it's in a pseudo fashion. Stormblood really hit the nail on the head for AST, but looking at the big picture of High End healing and where it was going. It was only natural to remove the "choice" that each card brought. Especially Royal Road, and spread. As much I love Royal Road, and deciding how to build my buffs and which card to hold with spread, at the end of the day we all RR Spire/Ewer...like always. And spread Balance. If I were to place blame on the RNG being ultimately changed? I place it squarely on the shoulders of the way fights are designed with a "time limit" baked into each encounter. Then you have to beat that timer before the enrage happens, it's only natural to want to do MORE DPS. But when you have to fight with RNG like we did in Stormblood, it was more of a problem then people realized. Although, the entire time AST's secretly loved the RNG aspect...because it was fun to just take what you got and make something out of it. Making everything the same DPS was a direct result of trying to SAVE AST from becoming to "you're services are no longer required".Cause you always have the one or more person that will always NEVER be satifisfied? SE quite literally gave us that in ShB, and it made the job less dependent on it's RNG. While still having something RNG'esq by having to know your party makeup MUCH more. Each card has a home, and it doesn't really matter anymore on who you slip a card to. Don't get me wrong I have my favorites SAM, BLM, DRG. Heavy hitters. But I do like to put cards on the classes that don't hit so hard. DNC, BRD, MCH. To even out the DPS and bring it up. And you know the best part...it doesn't matter. It literally doesn't.
SE has solved something that WoW could not. Make everything useful in it's own right, while obsessing over job balance. Which is why....it literally doesn't mater which healer or job you pick. Pick the one you like...and have fun?
I'll enjoy AST this expansion very much so. And if our paths cross? I'll be happy to heal for you.

For sure! It's unfortunate that the GCD filler spells are pretty much the same on all healers, but all jobs have something that makes them feel different in terms of DPS indeed!
