The only tiny problem with the food turning into decoration is that people sometimes use the empty plates to create some of their decorating ideas. I'd personally like to see all the furnishing items from events become obtainable whenever you want from the Calamity Salvager.

As much as I'd love to see this, SE won't put event food furnishings on the salvager because they'd lose out on those cashshop sales. I still think the easiest option would just be to add a food toggle to the FC/Housing permissions. This way, if you want the "clean" plate look you can just turn off the seting until the food is used up. Either way, I feel like something seriously needs to be done about this. It really ruins the fun of decorating.
