Desynthesis

Is Desynthesis worth leveling these days? I've been using it casually as a means of clearing inventory and getting rid of things I can't sell or get GC seal for, but I haven't really put any thought or effort into leveling it. I neglected it in the past due to the limitation on maxing out only a couple of jobs and the potential loss of level when things went bad. Now that it's changed, I'm considering actually putting some thought into it if it's worth it.

The only job that seems "worth it" in the long run is CUL since it allows Desynth of all the fish caught while leveling FSH.

The economy on my server's not super robust so having tens of millions or hundreds of millions of Gil is uncommon. I've got a decent nest egg, but I'm holding onto it on the off chance that I'll be able to buy a house in 6.1 so I can't blow tons of money on vendor trash but I've got no issues mass producing junk to level up if needed.

My specialist DoH jobs are CRP, CUL, and LTW (I think, maybe BSM) if that helps.

They really haven't added anything to special as desynth rewards lately afaik, but you do get some xp for doing 5 a week and you can get some ingots and leathers out of it that you would need special items for otherwise and a few things like demimateria still sell ok. But at this point its basically not worth putting much gil into, because its not going to be profitable enough by itself to make that gil back.

Desynth is helpful in a sense of getting a higher chance of rare mats, like ex trial mats from the weapons drops (or using totems) which can sell for a good amount of gil.
But that's all I found it useful for; I dont craft really so unsure if it's useful for DoH/L.

No, not anymore at least. You used to have to work to get desynth rate up, but now everyone can freely desynth everything, mats flood the Market board so mats sells for really cheap, its better to BUY the mats than to make them yourselves. And thats where we are

I's say the only use is for OCD capping them all.
I never saw any real difference between hi/low desnth for rarity, quantity or quality (and the last one is dead anyway)

There's no need to focus on leveling it anymore. As long as you've unlocked desynthesis and the needed DoH class, you'll be able to desynthesize the item.

The advantage of having it leveled to the recommended desynthesize level is you will usually get more materials back (so if it takes 4 of a material to craft, you'll usually get 2-4 back instead of 1-2) and a much greater chance to get back one of the "rare" items like demimateria or Sublime Solution.

As you say, gil is plentiful so profits that can be made from desynthesis don't seem like much but for the players with less gil it can be helpful. The way quick ventures have flooded the MB with items, you can make a profit even without desynthesis at the correct level if you pay attention to prices.

My CUL desyn spontaneously maxed when I was going after 500K Skyward Pts for my Fisher in Diadem... The fish from there cannot be sold or used for anything, and so the only way to use them is to desyn...

I personally like to level them up as much as possible; it feels like that pays off too once I start getting expensive crafting items from desynthesizing trial weapons more often.

Wait... can we level all DoH Desynth to max now? I thought it had a limit for how much you could do and we had to split it between ones we wanted... Am I wrong? Have I been wasting items this whole time?!?!
