Fullscreen crash when resolution doesn't match monitor's

Hi all, I apologize if this has already been addressed in a previous post, but the last posts I saw about it are back from 2010... is this still an issue? I cannot get fullscreen to work unless the game resolution is set to exactly match my screen resolution. This poses a problem because I play on a TV that's set to 1920x1080 and the game text is TINY at that size. I would like to both play in fullscreen and set the resolution to something lower, say 1280x720, like I can in FFXI without lowering my TV resolution as well. Is this possible, or is it just something we have to live with?

Also if you go to the configuration settings while inside the game and go to i think its log settings you can change the text size from medium (which i think is the default) to large.

Sorry, I think maybe my post wasn't very clear... I know how to change the resolution of the game, but if it doesn't match my computer resolution, it will boot up with a black screen and just sit there. I have changed the log text size to large, but all of the menu text remains tiny and pretty much unreadable.
