It's really just the level cap dungeons that have this problem. In leveling dungeons, if you do it via duty finder (whether by roulette or by specifically queuing for that dungeon), you automatically get one piece of loot for your queued role at the end, in addition to whatever dropped during the run. It's random, but each piece is unique, so as long as you're not selling off pieces between runs, you'll get the full set within a few runs. Unfortunately, SE hasn't implemented this system in the Level 50/60/70 roulette dungeons, or in the 80 or Expert dungeons.

The coupon collector's problem is a funny math scenario, it can easily get very busy to have a system in place to eliminate easy-to-implement rng. But beyond that...

And in regards to your second point... Geez, how are people able to put up with a system like that? I've seen MMOs get trashed for a whole lot less. And yeah, I agree. I'd rather work towards tokens knowing it'll be possible to obtain what I want rather than waste time on something that might end up not panning out at all.
... the problem is non-issue because it was already fixed by that crafted replicate. And fixing how dyes work would go longer way than trying to make it easier to farm dungeon drops.

Yeah hard agree, it's super frustrating. Also a big part of my inventory being so full of glamour all the time... there's absolutely no way I'm tossing a dungeon piece I like, especially if it's dyeable, because I might just straight up never see it drop again.

No... They explained why it's an issue. It doesn't dye the way they want so the dyeable version doesn't satisfy their criteria. Besides, since their talking about HW drops can easily shift this over to the caster/healer Plague Bringer/Healer sets which can be just as bad to farm and don't have an alternative. Or the Filibuster sets which also don't have a crafted version.

Then there's the highly desirable sets from SB that only drop from one dungeon... Bonewicca, Skallic and Resistance sets. I have a friend that has never seen the Bonewicca Caster body drop in any run of Swallow's Compass they've been in to this day.

I would much rather them just use the existing system of "one guaranteed gear drop for the class you are running as per clear," that is already in effect in leveling dungeons, in all dungeons rather than some token system or coffers. There's still some RNG, but you'd eventually be guaranteed the item within 9-10 runs (if there are weapon drops).

The optional "Endgame" dungeons would quickly die a death if a guaranteed item you needed for it were to drop each time you ran it - once you got your five bits of armour then there is no incentive for you to run them again.

The thing is, it's unevenly applied RNG.

If the piece you want is from a levelling dungeon, you have the guaranteed drop system. You can still be stuck doing multiple runs to earn a specific piece, but at least you can be sure it will come eventually.

If the piece you want is from an endgame (or ex-endgame) dungeon, there's no reprieve. Less pieces drop per run than from levelling dungeons, and there is no free piece at the end.

I could understand if it were just the case for current endgame dungeons, and the system was made easier once they become old content, but under the current system it's permanently harder to acquire glamour pieces from a level 60 dungeon than from a level 53 or 77 dungeon even though the level 60 gear has less functional gameplay value. It feels arbitrary and frustrating.

What part of "random loots" you dont get ?
It's random, you're either lucky or not it has nothing to do with how much time you spend in it, even worse when it comes to something as trivial as glamour.
If they start to give random shit for free just because you spam it a lot it would kill the very purpose of random loots.
So no thanks, you either have the willpower to do it long enough to have what you want, or you give up it's not up to SE to fix your lazyness.
And i say that while i did 153 runs of "The heroe's gauntlet" for my TEA BiS.

See, this could’ve make sense… except because of the existence of capstone dungeon roulette, it is not..

Roulettes are made to ensure older content queues are filling up. From those effort & time spent to get the dungeon rolling, players are rewarded with those exp, gil, tomes, etc. So it’s really weird how they’re not guaranteeing at least 1 gear loot of the participant’s chosen job.

I get that, but I think Maulclaw ought to refocus on how dyes work rather than how dungeon gear drops. We know dungeon gear will always be repurposed in the future as crafter/vendor gear and then usually also comes as a dyeable version. The fact that the original colors of the dungeon gear cannot be really replicated by the dyeing system is part of how much the dyeing system sucks, so fixing that would fix his original issue too. If he could just recolor the vendor gear into the dungeon gear with dyes, there is no problem.
