I'm really not sure why they don't put the '1 free piece of loot at the end of the dungeon' in level cap dungeons like they do leveling ones.
Not like that gear is useful for anything but glamour.

Any that aren't required by the MSQ already lose popularity as soon as they're not in the Expert roulette, since they're not required unlocks. (Fun fact, I have literally never once seen Neverreap or either version of Hullbreaker come up in 50/60/70 Roulette. Ever.) There's no reason the guaranteed loot system couldn't at least be added for outdated dungeons.
I have said this before and I will keep saying and suggesting it until it is implemented.
They should implement the guaranteed gear drop system that they have in leveling dungeons for level cap dungeons from previous expansions. I understand that they wouldn't have it for current level cap duties to incentivize people running it, but there's no reason not to have it for older dungeons that can be run unsynced and are only being farmed for glamour. I think this should also apply to older 24-man raids as well since glamour can be particularly aggravating to farm for there.
Except that DR:50/60/70/80 aren't worth running. DR:OldCapLevels doesn't give much xp and you can get enough Poetics from other things. I haven't run that roulette since maybe the second month of ShB. DR:CurrentCapLevel also not worth running because it gives 0xp and you can easily cap for the week without doing anything but DR:Expert and weekly raids; or in a single day without even running any roulettes if you hunt. I haven't run that one in about as long.See, this could’ve make sense… except because of the existence of capstone dungeon roulette, it is not..
Roulettes are made to ensure older content queues are filling up. From those effort & time spent to get the dungeon rolling, players are rewarded with those exp, gil, tomes, etc. So it’s really weird how they’re not guaranteeing at least 1 gear loot of the participant’s chosen job.
So I'm going to agree with Bearded on this one.

Maybe not popular. But I would like to see retainers that are battle classes go and get drops from all but current expansion. Set the cost and time at what it needs to be. But it means that you never have to save an old drop. You know it will be one venture away. The other choice would be squadron missions to farm. But when was the last time squads got any new patch. Or hell turn the squads into a new type of venture system if trusts are going to phase them out anyways.
I understand OP's plight though, sometimes you really want the dungeon piece because it has a unique colour unobtainable by dye and/ or it has a different coloured trim. I've been crying for dungeon tokens forever, GW2 style would be such an easy fix. As long as it goes to our wallets, not our inventories.Although the armor set you are looking for has a recolor that is available to purchase with gil, the problems you mention are especially prevalent in current endgame dungeons where the gear is fantastic-and chests/bosses drop even less of it in favor of accessories.
Even if I have to run a dungeon 10-15 times to get enough tokens for a specific piece, I would much rather do that than grind endlessly with no hope of an end in sight.
At the risk of playing devil's advocate:
Grinding out neat glamours or rare drops from dungeons is one of the few satisfactions this tier of content has to offer. Yes it's a pain to grind it when all you invariably need drops from a single coffer in a sea of accessories. But it's about the only thing keeping these dungeons relevant at this stage and given the gear is only truly useful for a very specific niche and is otherwise generally just glamor fodder. So be it.
I'd much rather have a dungeon grind to keep me occupied than just buying it on the mogstation and being bored of it 30 minutes later because everyone else has it too.

A dungeon grind for a specific piece should end at maximum 15 runs, not 150. That's not a grind, that's a waste of our time. Accessories shouldn't even be dropping in dungeons at all.
Oh... don't even get me started on accessories... As Yoshi-P has clearly presented himself as someone with predilection for jewelry... doing accessory glams post 60 is an incredible pain. There are tons of accessories I'd glam if I didn't need to have 5 versions of them to ensure I can use the appearance any time I wanted. I wish they'd either make old accessories "All Classes" or convert them all to one item with just main stats like some of the freebie accessories at lower level (Dawn Wristguards for example).
So say... Instead of their being 5 different Azurite Choker of ______, there's one Azurite Choker with +STR, +DEX, +INT, +MND, +VIT
Most accessories back in ARR were not locked to a class. They did this later because people were using accessories that did nothing for their job simply because it would push their average ilvl up just enough to let them queue for harder content.Oh... don't even get me started on accessories...
