Not sure if this will change at higher levels, but my Paladin does the same damage as my Dragoon on single target dummy, and way more on AoE.
Is this the nature of tanks or is it a low lvl thing?
Thanks,

Not sure what levels and ilevels you're comparing with, but if your PLD and DRG are doing the same total damage, you may be playing DRG wrong.
And I mean, yes, tanks are a little OP if played well, but they shouldn't be able to actually output more damage than a proper DD class when playing equally well.

I mean tanks can solo a lot of content dps and healer can’t . Max gear Paladin and for most parts war can solo even kefka. Ofc some you can’t solo but most of duty’s you can. So in that regard tanks are op.
And would be more proper to say that PLD and in a lesser manner WAR can solo(eventually) lots of content, DRK and GNB lack self healing to do so.
Heck you can say the same about RDM considering that they are THE solo job unless you receive too much damage that makes the downtime healing not worth it
Anyways, considering how low the tanks damage became in comparison with a dps job (on HW tanks could deal up to 70% of a dps, now is far lower), the only way for a tank to deal more than a dps is to either overgear them like crazy or the dps having a really bad rotation. Even healers deal more damage than tanks

Don’t call it bad rotation , it’s called freestyle and asking a dps about it and trying to give advices/tips doesn’t end well. Sry back to topic. And would be more proper to say that PLD and in a lesser manner WAR can solo(eventually) lots of content, DRK and GNB lack self healing to do so.

It's actually not that out of the ordinary for tanks to outdamage some DPS at lower levels. They get damage buffs extremely early compared to most DPS jobs, and tend to (with one tragic exception) get the second step of their AoE combo a bit earlier, too. I think the 1-2-3 is also pretty comparable potency-wise at earlier levels, but I'm not sure about that.
No, healing is. Paladins have healing, ergo paladins are OP. Red mage is super OP. The only way to fix this is reduce the flashyness of their spells. Pretty balanced as things should be.
thanks guys
i accidentally leveled up during a dungeon and as such never noticed, 2 of my dragoon abiliites were not on my hot bars
Im now following a youtube rotation for lvl 50 drg, i can crit for 1300 ish
My paladin can crit for about 1100 ish
thanks
Youll get more damage increases along the way. Its true that tanks get most of their damage earlier, but dps jobs scale far better with both gear and levels
in ilvl 530 a good tank deals 14k (in team, dunno on dummy) and a DD 24k, so tank output is around 60% of a DPS. I think it's a bit much fantasy wise BUT mechanically wise ? There is very little to focus outside rotation so it's ok if they're doing damage and not weakened (we'll wait for Endwalker theorycraft preliminary results for more info on that though)
