    Class aesthetic and weapon selection

Trying to pick a tank class to play but aesthetic is a major thing for me. I simply could not enjoy playing paladin that they have no big shields (like BIG SHIELDS), Warrior can only use Axe, not trying to offend anyone, I just find other weapon types much more appealing, GB's gunblades are so tiny and buffy like toy swords.

Which leaves me with greatsword DK, but this is more like a lack of choice.

Jobs are all around the kind of weapon that they use, that's the core identity above anything else so yeah you wont get different kind of weapons for 1 job.
It's not tank-specific either so why does it bother you only with tanks ?
If that's only for tanks and you do care way too much about it, the jobs aren't for you that's it.
And earlier in the game's lifespan it used to have different kind of shields the big ones and the small ones with different stats depending which one you had on you, but they gave up that idea long ago.

Paladins mostly use regular-sized shields, with a few smaller options. If you're looking for a tower shield, then yeah, you're SOL on that. (Alternately, you can glamour The Emperor's New Shield to hide it entirely.)

Warriors can get a couple of hammers. Warrior and dark knight also have a scythe available on the Mog Station.

Gunbreaker weapons are slimmer because they're one-handed weapons with a more fast-paced attack style. It'd just look silly if they had huge bulky gear like warriors and dark knights. A few of them are bigger, though; I like the Deepshadow Manatrigger, for example.

I wish ffxiv Jobs were like FFXI jobs which they can equip multiple weapons

Like FFXI WAR can use pretty much every weapon but their axe are A+ combat, they can still use daggers, polearms, clubs ect

Other jobs can but not as much as WAR or NIN

Im a dancer in FFXI so i can use shields, daggers, swords...its limited than WAR

FFXIV jobs seems so limited and i hate they can only use one weapon, its dumb

Because I main a DPS and it's the only class I play right now, tried out other classes, don't really suit me. So I mean to branch out into tanking, since I dislike healing in other games as well, I know full well my last bid would be find a tank class to main.
    That's really unfortunate.

I really like the theme of Warrior but the axe really throws me off. If I'm more into holy magic, templer, sacred oath that kind of stuff I could overlook the fact that you can only wield baby size shields.

I would love to see tower shield options for paladin :0 (wonder if part of the reason we don't have them is because they might look airy or off with the current smaller shield animations). There is a large from the early days that was tower like (had the large shield stats), but it was still not quite 'tower shield' like you might imagine of one.

FFXI's WAR was the basic tank job available at the start hence why it had provoke. People just chose to use it as a DD later because it's gear options allowed it to play both roles and online gamers generally prefer dealing damage over mitigating damage. So ppl stacked their WAR with gear that increased damage output while increasing the damage they take in return and also grinding their evasion rate into the dirt.

PLD and NIN required leveling a basic job until you could start the quests to unlock advanced jobs.

As for the shield sizes in FFXIV... I think part of the reason the shields all seem really small might be that it appears you're a male Au Ra which is one of the larger character models in game. Most of the kite shields seemed fine to me as a Miqo'te. Unless you're looking for a full on Tower Shield. There area few named tower shields in the game but in reality they're more like scutums in actual size and were likely just called tower shields because they were a square or rectangle.

A longer shield would clip horribly with your character while running. Your legs would be constantly pushing through the lower half.
