Yes, but pressing 'Shift' five times in rapid succession will produce a dialog box from Windows that will take focus and ask you "Do you want to enable Sticky Keys....?' Depending on your Windows settings, I believe this may also darken the screen until the dialog box is accepted or dismissed.

Whether or not Sticky Keys is on, are you for any reason pushing the Shift key a bunch of times in rapid succession?
