There was, in 1.0, mystery about 'what's under Silvertear Lake' with no real evidence beyond 'something is there' (which I do think you know, I'm just clarifying that's exactly where it came from). It was one of the many, many plot hooks that were just quietly dropped in the time since, and has never received spotlight again. Hell, it's even unique among those in that it hasn't even been brought up as an extant concept or presence in the world in ARR onward; it's the one that got COMPLETELY dropped.

I'm always wondering why that of all things is the one 1.0 thing that a bunch of lorehounds keep hanging onto and bringing up. Why is everyone so hung up on the lake of all things? Why aren't we beating the Gelmorra drum, or constantly speculating about the Woodsin?

Sorry, when I said "Silvertear Lake" I meant "the mystery of what lies beneath Silvertear Lake" as directly raised by the person I was replying to.

When we were first told that the alliance raid would address a long-standing mystery, people guessed Silvertear Lake. It was never stated by the devs that the raid would address this topic, and later we were told that it would be about the Twelve.

Veloran's quote that I was addressing appears to have conflated those two aspects into calling them the combined subject of the raids.

It's true, I was conflating those two things. However I do think Myths of the Realm, dealing with major primals in the Twelve, and Pandaemonium, which in FF2 lore is hell, could either or both be related to Silvertear regardless, for the reasons I've previously stated. But again, Silvertear is a bit of a side path when considering the issue of primals going forward.

Whatever it is, I want to become a normal, non-blessing-buffed adventurer. Give us a reason to do heroic things, but let the people doing MSQ trials with me be my actual compatriots and not some strange stand-ins to fill slots required for that sort of content.

Please, please, please keep time and dimensional travel out of the game. Shadowbringers was enough, we don't need anything more than that.

I am personally hoping for an "Eorzea 2: Electric Boogaloo" expansion

The world of FFXIV in my opinion does a good job of showing that even if the Warrior of Light is one of if not the most important piece on the board the world moves on and things happen outside of your personal journey. The Garlean threat has shaped the course of recent history and I will honestly be a little sad if we just brush past the political fallout and hightail it to Meracydia or Hingashi.

I think 5.4's story arc of "The great ship vyllbrand" was not to show us that limsa has everything together but the opposite. If even at worlds end people are willing to squabble and bicker I wanna see all of it. I wanna see how the rest of the world deals with the Illsabardian power vaccum. I wanna see who is going to gun for spots of power in Eorzea now that the empire isn't looming over everyone.

I'm not against huge fights for the sake of the world but all that all the time can get exhausting. I really hope we get to see the consequences of the world changing actions the WoL does.

I'd love to see a region that's against the Warrior of Light. Maybe they're doing fine right now but because of our action in Endwalker, that place turns to hell so when we go there, they really want to kill us.

I was really disappointed when the Garlean empire kind of went out with a whimper after they were being built-up as an even greater threat then ever between the Resonant and Weapon projects.

That said, I wouldn't mind a proper Ilsabard expansion that's focused on taking down a united remnant of their forces that aims to continue their oppressive reign over Aldenard instead of seeking unity, utilizing the full power of Garlean technology with nastiness like mass-production model Weapons and regiments of Resonant soldiers.

I'm fairly certain that's going to come up again, especially considering the Resonant was heavily used in the Save the Queen storyline and there was a certain mad scientist all about creating more powerful mecha to pilot in that same storyline. There's also a number of plot hooks left in the air after that storyline, so I suspect we'll see almost everything put together in the future. When though, will be the question.

    ?
    Why?
1.0 was a janky game but there was a lot of interesting lore and subplots that Yoshi-P's team cowardly abandoned instead of exploring further like Lake Silvertear, 90% of the Shroud and Gridania culture lore, elementals weakening 'because Calamity', Lominsan piracy intrigues, Ul'dah's underground, all the Factions related lore that was just dropped and forgotten, etc.
Even with some of them being left incomplete (and I can't blame TANAKA's team for it because they were removed from the team relatively early) 1.0 did a good job at highlighting each nation's cultural and internal problems and potential to expand on them in the future. Instead of that we got a short surface-level political intrigue in Ul'dah that went nowhere and just focused on "united we stand" for every single nation subplot since.

People love to talk about rose tinted glasses, but I think more people in XIV's community need to take off the Yoshi-P-o-Vision and notice the few things 1.0 did that weren't anywhere near as bad as the game itself was.

That's exactly what I mean, actually. I can blame Yoshi-P's team for the stuff they jettisoned in the shift from 1.0 to 2.0 (and I readily do, I'm still mad about Gelmorra), but I can't blame them for the stuff that 1.0 didn't even bother to flesh out either.

Granted, it's very hard to find what that stuff would even be, because it's not like we can dig into specifics.
