Preferences for a new world in 6.x, 7.x and beyond

While I hope it doesn’t go this way, it is absolutely set up to be something akin to Chrono Trigger.

We have a magic-amplifying something that the ancients called a sound/keening. And it moved around, ultimately triggering everything that has happened in the game.

The big problem I see is this: Zodiark was created to rewrite rules of “the star”, and essentially constrain whatever was making the Sound. If you remove Zodiark, you could very well remove whatever restraints were on this sound creature.

We have interstellar life confirmed, we have time travel confirmed. We even have pseudo-zeal appearing in 6.0.

It would not surprise to me at if they got his route, or at least take inspiration from it.

Just imho, but I expect the Sound to be the next overarching story happening in the background.

I don't think it's them wanting to attack the WoL en masse, so much as we stumble upon at least one of them, who knowingly or not leads us to Pandaemonium. Personally if I had my way, the remaining 4 would be the ones who'd rather be like Gaia and live out their own lives peacefully. I think it's time to retire the Ascian nonsense permanently, it's been getting boring having to deal with mustache twirling evil organizations.

While I broadly agree (I think Fandaniel's a perfectly good sendoff, he seems fun), I'd like them to keep the other Ascians 'in reserve' to deploy them in side content. I'd love to randomly have to go up against Pashtarot in a crafting storyline.

This reminds me that in the Stormblood crafters line for Goldsmith, there's a Highlander lady whose name is something like, "Emeloth" or something like that. It's like a syllable or so from being, "Emmerololth." What if she lived through Galuf and Co. only to wind up with amnesia? lmao (A little more than unlikely, I know, but... I can't help myself).

Plus we'd have a Japan culture expansion in ff14, which is a win on all fronts.

I'd be very happy to have the last remaining Ascians eaten by Zenos to get more sexy poowerful, and fight the whole of that in 6.0 so we are done, no loose ends.

Time travel is absolutely horrendous to grasp, I can think of only one game that did it right. In a fantasy setting, they can invent so many things, why even boher with time travel that is beyond me.
I would love some Meracydia lore, more about the first Brood... Same for the New World, but it would be quite weird to tie things up with so many critical issues happening in Eorzea, and nothing consequential over there for thousands of years... it sounds off in my head somehow.
Then, I'd love minor storylines (like the Doman enclave or the Firmament) to cover how the world is going on in Ala Mhigo, Garlemald, Bozja too.

They said we'd be learning what caused the Final Days in 6.0 so I'm feeling like whatever the cause of the sound was is also going to be addressed within the base MSQ.

I would not mind in the slightest if Zenos just ends up being a distraction from what the true threat is, assuming it was sufficiently foreshadowed.

I'd like the Ascians to be retired to more of a wild card villain. Not the ones at the center of the problem, but the handful leftover trying to find leverage and a place in a world where they will never have Zodiark again.

I like the idea of seeing them used in different ways. Once Zodiark is dead, there is no reason they couldn’t resummon him given enough aether…so that could be a thread, albeit uninteresting in my opinion.

Rather, what happens to an Ascian who has been de-tempered? Are they repentant? Or do they feel free to pursue even more diabolical plots?

While they could continue to use "Allagans did it" as a catalyst for problems going into the future, it's already been kind of done to death in both MSQ and side content.

It's seeming like there may still be remnants of Ancient civilization back on the Source which could be even more of an issue, however.
