Similarities between Elidibus and Omega *Spoilers*

Just got done playing through the post-Shadowbringers story again on an alt. And when I did the Elidibus fight it oddly made me think of Omega again.

Omega, if I remember correctly, was following his programming and mission parameters of someone or some civilization that no longer exists. And he can't even remember why he's doing what he's doing. (If I remember correctly. It's been a while since I played it. I might need to re-watch the cutscene.)

Elidibus seems to be experiencing something very similar. When challenged by Y'shtola, and through further cutscenes, we see that indeed, he cannot remember why he's doing all this. And then in that story that you can read on the website, we find out that when Emet-Selch asked Elidibus if would ever use his memory crystal, Elidibus says no. Like, he doesn't see a reason to do so. Basically, he's willfully forgetting his past, and yet he is totally beholden to it.

I was wondering, do you think this was done intentionally by the devs? Or was it just a coincidence. Sort of how the writing just went.

Sad to say, but it's the path of least resistance. Rather than actually flesh out his ancient life fully, they leave it in the ready room for whenever they feel like they need it, if they need it.

Same thing with Omega. Though I think with Omega it has more to do with not being programmed to specifically remember anything, rather with being damaged by the long flight as well as being objective oriented/programmed to follow orders. It wasn't programmed or ordered to remember, so it didn't.

Speaking of Omega's long journey, I wonder if Midgarsormr ever complained about how long it was taking Omega to leash already. And I thought some of the Bozja outdoor enemies were frustrating on that.

They are similar in a way, though Omega is capable of regaining his power as he is a contruct rather than a being a primal like Elidibus.

I believe Omega used so much power following Midgardsormr to our planet that it lost the ability to find it's way home. The trials it puts us through is in an attempt to make itself stronger so it has the ability and power to get home again.

Elidibus is losing his memory because of the death of Emet-Selch (and Lahabrea too). After the death of Lahabrea we see Elidibus go from being very cordial to hostile, and then losing his mind completely after Emet dies. He has lost his "power source" as the unsundered carrying out the will of Zodiark are keeping Elidibus powered up.
