Changing City-State.

My question would be why are you trying to change it?

If it's just because you want to see what the starting MSQ is like in another city state, create a new character and play through it. It only takes a few hours. You'll never have access to another city-state's starting experience through NG+ because NG+ is replaying your character's journey based on what's completed in your Journal. Your character never completed the quests of the other city-states.

If you're concerned about your character's backstory, your starting city is where you first became an adventurer. It's not necessarily your character's home town. You're even asked in the starting cutscene "Is this your first visit to [city-state]?" and you get to choose Yes or No. Your character could have started from anywhere and received training in various jobs in other places before you decided to journey to Eorzean and join some of the guilds there to get their official training (even if it was pain in the butt because they made you start from scratch like a total novice).

Wasn't so much as backstory, Just noticed as I was playing through the story since I'm still fairly new to the game that they reference your city state at times. or like Thancred likes to reference how he's the one that found me more often then not.. I was more or so wondering if it would be possible to go back and change to Limsa Lominsa to change those things. I went into this game blind to get the full effect of the game and didn't want to read guides or anything and learning of the world and the characters I've grown to love vs others I could do with out but I'm just currently kind of having starting area regret. not to mention I've already invested a decent amount of time. Into this one character and even purchased the cactus mount from gold saucer so it would hurt my soul to start over.

Which Grand Company did you join? Most of the references I've seen in-game depend more on that than your starting city. At least after ARR.

I suspected as much. That is why you're getting references to Limsa Lominsa so much. If you belonged to the Serpents you'd see references for Gridania. The flames, Ul'dah. As you become higher ranked, you'd end up being addressed as Lieutenant or Captain for the same Grand Company.

I believe I know what your talking about. but what I was referring to was.. for example I just did a quest the other day. and it asked me where I was from. and my only option was either ..... or Ul'dah

Not true. While you're referred to by your company rank by members of the same GC, there are also several points where your starting city is "where you're from" and often referenced as if it's your home town.

To switch Grand Companies it requires rank and 50,000 gil. There's a 15 real life day hold policy before you can switch again. In this way, you can attain max GC rank in all GCs, but it doesn't really get you anything, and it doesn't unrestrict your glamours Q_Q

As far as caring about your starting City-State... maybe it's because I have alts from everywhere that are at the end of the current MSQ, but I never much notice or care when they do reference my starter city. My main character started in Limsa Lominsa, so has Y'shtola as my first Scion, and I can't recall her ever really making a nod towards that fact. But maybe I'm just blind.

The only reference to our starting city-state that I can think of is right at the start of ShB. Cutscene #3 of The Syrcus Trench, Lyna asks where you're from and your options are "<City State>", "The Source", and "...". Aaaand that's it, nothing else comes to mind.

Also seriously, unlock GC Glamour. I'm capped out in all three GCs, let me wear whatever I want. And upgrade the Ranks in Endwalker, I dream of the day I can become a Storm Champion.
