    So I enjoy SCH, but...

So let me start by saying that I've only really been playing FF14 for the past couple months. My account's older than that, but I only ever dabbled for a few days before.

Besides my main job FSH, I play mostly as SCH. Before that, I tried SMN, but when I queued up as SCH to get into dungeons faster, I fell in love with the job. Now my only combat job is SCH.

I'm a little curious, though, about other jobs. Are there any DPS or tank jobs that have a similar "flow" to SCH? Not really sure how to describe it other than "flow."

Not really sure how to help from just this.
Can you better describe what SCH's "flow" is for you?
Or what you like about it?

I recommend Paladin. I'd NEVER really played a tank in any previous MMO, including WoW where I played mages, archers, demon hunter, and other DPS roles, but no tank or healer. I started FFXIV earlier this year, decided to try out PLD, and immediately fell in love with the job. You feel invincible, breeze through story quests, have almost zero wait time for roulettes, and very little wait otherwise for dungeons, trials, any group event. I haven't tried a Healer role yet, but so far PLD is an absolute blast. The "flow" you mention (at least as I understand and can relate to it) is very, very smooth. The tools you get with PLD are all very useful: getting and maintaining aggro, AOE, even good DPS, and fantastic mitigation. Very very mobile playstyle (except when you want to be stationary to help out your positional-minded DPS cohorts in a dungeon). You typically set the pace and (again!) the flow of the dungeon expedition, you decide to pull wall to wall or go slow (I typically ask the group how they want it, or test the healer out with a couple pulls), or do a gogogo run. I've not been a big fan of dungeons before in WoW, but now I enjoy them a lot in this game because of the PLD job.

That's my experience in a nutshell. Good luck with picking a role, I'm sure you have many options, just enjoy the game in a leisurely way. Cheers.

Not saying OP shouldn't try Paladin, but I love SCH and can't stand PLD. I don't find them similar at all.

    Thinking about it...

...basically, the pacing of abilities, how frequently I have to move and act at the same time, and the number of things I have to pay attention to at once.

I also like the animations, but that's not related to the "flow" I was talking about.

Sounds like you might enjoy the casters.
They're all great, but BLM has some fairly unique movement tools so that might have a different flow than what you want.
    Maybe start with RDM?

If by flow, you mean Broil Broil Broil Broil Broil, you will like White Mage's Glare Glare Glare Glare Glare or Astrologian's Malefic Malefic Malefic Malefic Malefic.

You might also like Bard's Burst Shot Burst Shot Burst Shot Burst Shot Burst Shot but it has lots of off globals or Machinist's Heat Blast.

The DPS that are least distracting and allow for moving easily are RDM and MCH. The tanks that are least distracting are DRK and then WAR.

Honestly all the tanks will be a fair bit different from SCH given the role differences. Flow-wise though hmm, Warrior would be my suggestion. Maybe Dark Knight.

Alot of the way the sch plays is very similar to the way tank plays in the sense that playing it optimally is all about using your cooldowns at the right time to react to the right mechanics. So I agree with the people suggesting tank classes to you. I personally don't care to play tank classes myself but I will def acknowledge their similarities.

It’s funny that you specifically mention the flow, I have it with both summoner and scholar. A specific vibe with their gameplay, hard to describe. I prefer healing on white mage because it feels more like a dance, moving in, moving out, weaving damage with heals, very fluid. Scholar feels more grounded to me (in the good sense), I’m guessing because of the stronger focus on shields. I haven’t tried many classes yet so I’m no good judge on whether there is a class that has a similar feel to scholar. That said, I am enjoying paladin a lot, so like others already said, might be worth a try
