Hey all,
In your experience, what are the best ways to target farm aethersand? Should I be running the usual circuit for collectibles or is there a more effective way?
Thanks in advance,
IQ

Sorry, what kind of aethersand are you looking to farm?
Agedeep Aethersand?
Duskglow Aethersand?
Levinstrike Aethersand?
Dawnborne Aethersand?
Agewood Aethersand?
etc...
Sand farming has changed quite a bit...could you be more specific?
Well then, that does change things a bit. I've hardly done any aethereal reduction and the website I checked basically said "timed nodes for mats". I suppose the sands needed to make current ShB foods; Levinstrike? I'm looking to start stocking up on buff food like Chili Crab and such for the EW leveling push.
Do yellow scrip materials give the same items and quantity of items as white scrip materials? I'm going to run out of things to buy with scrips before I run out of time to gather the items that give them.![]()
Aethersands are from Ephemeral nodes, which are also on a timer, each set lasts for 4 in game hours. There are 3 sets of botanist and 3 sets of miner nodes per expansion. Depending on what sand you’re looking for changes what nodes you’re going after.
Sorry for double post can’t edit on mobile, for Levinstrike sand you’re going to be using aetherial reduction on both Levin Mint and Thunder Rock (both miner and botanist). There will always be an ephemeral node up having one of those 2 items.
Aethersand farming comes down to moving between zones as the needed nodes despawn in one zone and spawn in the next.Well then, that does change things a bit. Yellow scrip and White scrip currently buy different types of items. If SE continues the pattern they established in the past once Endwalker is released, yellow scrip will be discontinued with White becoming the new Yellow (hopefully that makes sense to you) and a new color scrip added as the end game scrip. A vendor in Mor Dhona will allow Yellow Scrip to be exchanged for White, probably at a rate of 3 or 4 yellow to 1 White. If there are things you currently need with Yellow, go ahead and buy, otherwise I would just get it to cap before Endwalker to take advantage of the scrip exchange.
Thanks all, I appreciate your input. I've got a collectible gathering circuit that's good for scrip farming down pretty well, I just wasn't sure if there was an optimal way to gather materials for aethersands rather than scrips.
The current ShB (510) raid foods DO NOT use any ethereal reduction items. The only WHITE scrip items I know of are chicken thighs and mozzarella that you can get from the crafting white scrip trader.Well then, that does change things a bit. Chili Crab (490) DOES use reduction items.
If your looking for chili crab you need blue crabs which only come from fishing in kolushia, and the only way to get blue crabs that I know if is with squid strips bait from white gathering scrips trader. All of the other materials are gathered from normal, legendary botany/mining nodes.
Smoked Chicken
Chicken Thighs - Crafting White scrip exchange
Frontio oil - normal, Crafted mat
Lemonette - timed
Night pepper - normal
Creamtop Mushroom - normal
Ala Mhigan Salt crystal - timed, level 70, lochs
Chili Crab
Blue Crab - Fishing, Squid Strips bait from Gathering White Scrip exchange (ultra time consuming as you need bait from white scrips and fishing although relaxing, can put me to sleep)
Frontio oil - normal, Crafted mat
Blood Tomato - normal
Jhammel Ginger - timed node level 70, lochs
Levinstrike Aethersand - timed Ephemral nodes w/ ethereal reduction or purchase with white scrips from trader. (the faster and more efficient way using reduction, but bring some cordials)
Culinarian can be a pain with all the mats you have to collect, especially the high end raid foods as most of the ingredients are from timed nodes, but if you stick with it? Culinarian is the most useful crafting job there is, and the most lucrative. Maybe Alchemist takes a close 2nd with tinctures being stupid easy to make.
As long as people craft, gather, raid...Culinarian is the most complex crafter...with the best payoff.
