XIV Needs to get the word out

The game has made incredible strides from it's initial release. I can see a general consensus of the player community talking more about the game content, and less about the lack there of. SE is definatly making the right steps to get people to commit to the game, and to try out the game AGAIN, but what about for the people who have never tried it? The unfortunate thing is that people tend to focus more on the bad than the good in almost everything, and in the case of this game some of the most popular threads of information are about the initial game, not the game that is available today. It's in light of this that I believe that SE could benefit from a word-of-mouth campaign that would encourage the current players/fans of the game to generate new content and interest in the game.

That is a very broad thing to make an attempt at, but one idea would be a "friend-trial" system, where a current player would be given a code that can be given to one new person, giving them a one week demo. Or maybe they will just have a good advertisement/demo campaign after their v2.0 trailer at E3 to spark some attention.

This is just a thought, there are countless ways more player interest could be achieved, I'm just curious about the communities thoughts on trying to generate more interest and information about the Final Fantasy XIV we know and love today.

I believe they are waiting to showcase at E3 before they start a major push. Plus, being as close to 2.0 as possible is going to be a big benefit, too.

Know how amazing it would be if SE surprised us and said 2.0 had been finished early and they were releasing it for beta the week of E3 :P /sigh lol

They should really push some advertising for the 2.0 relaunch/PS3 launch.

Well they are doing the welcome back campaign I think that is enough for now.

I don't think they should try selling the game to knew players until 2.0 though the game is still pretty rough in comparison to other MMO's and online games.

As someone mentioned above E3 will probably start the campaign for 2.0, they will push it a lot more after the new trailer.

It's baffling they intend to remove half of the content that's been keeping us going for 2.0 (Ifrit, Moogle, Garuda...)

They are going to show a new trailer at this yrs E3 to attract new players and attract players that played through the betas/launch that left. I can't remember where I read it but I'm sure someone can find the link and post it here

I've been telling friends irl and online about the free week, but unfortunately no one seems that interested.
Here's to hoping E3 can stir up some buzz.

Like Yves (hi dookie poo!) said I don't think we'll see a push for new players until after E3. They will be able to show off the new and improved ver 2.0 to whet the appetite of the curious.

Ill even to go as far and say, we won't see any real push for new players until September. It doesn't make sense to pool money into marketing (ads, displays, promo video) for a version that is about to go the way of the dodo in 6 months. Once ver 2.0 is close at hand. They can start campaigning the transition. After all people who hold an account will "beta test" ver 2.0 from oct/nov-ish through dec/jan for free. Thats a nice little "bonus" for a new subscriber. Join in September, get your free month sometime in October you get the ver 2.0 beta client and in November it transitions into beta until January where you play for free.

You can almost get away with a 3 month trial for the cost of the box or digital download.
