    Making a difference in Classes/Jobs

    Ok. Let me see if I have this right:

    You have THM/BLM for Ranged Direct/AOE Damage.
    CNJ/WHMs are for Healing and Protection Buffs
    ARCs are for Movement Enfeebling (heavy, bind,blind)/Ranged Direct Damage and BRDs for Refresh/Enhancement Buffs

    GLD/PLD and MRD/WAR for tanking. (GLD/PLD gets all the survivability and MRD/WAR gets all the Provokes/crowd control *pause* *shrug*)

    and the PUG/MNK and LNC/DRG are for Melee Direct Damage ( Questions: 1. Can either of these match the damage of the ranged Direct Damage dealers? 2. Do either serve another purpose?)

    If this is all correct then the following is wrong with the class/job system.

    1. It is missing several vital aspects: Most notably concerning Enfeeblement, MP control, TP control, Damage over Time, and 3rd person Crowd Control (as in "Hit the Tank" and not "Hit Me").

    2. The game is setting itself up so it does not need Melee. At all. It needs tanks, but without the elements above combined with the fact that ARCs, THMs and BLMs all outdamage LNC/DRG and PUG/MNK. Having Melee Direct Damage comes across more as an act of love/friendship/charity than any attempt at efficiency (not to mention more mobs/dungeons challenges seem designed to counter melees and not ranged attacks making them more likely to die than a BLM despite the lack of HP).

    Before adding new classes and jobs, the current ones should be fixed.

    Any suggestions?

    MNK and DRG from what I understand are the top single target DPS, so yes they are useful, the problem is mages see curing melee as a waste of MP, which is why everything is ranged attacks onry. They have uses people just dont wanna cure em, so they take ranged attackers to events for easy mode whm.

    It's funny. Paladin is a great job for a melee centric party. Rampart and Divine Veil help with heals, and the Paladin can also heal as well.

    I can't tell you how many Ifrit parties I was in where the Healers never healed the DD's ever. I mean that's why they never let PGL/MNK into Ifrit parties. Since they take a lot of damage towards the end, the healers don't care. Well haha to the mages, I out dps'd as a MNK last night everytime.

    I just wish they would tone down HOW much damage ranged can do. I mean archer damage can get really crazy and BLM stacked is just as crazy.

    it wouldnt be such a problem if they didnt design the fights so the bosses can do 360 aoe around itself for 2k damage. you cant keep everyone alive if u have 4 people taking that kinda damage. not to mention the Chim fight with the traps all over the place. they said they were gonna design fights with this is mind in the future but so far nothin

    Their Garuda fight was supposed to be centered around Melees but doesn't seem that way with the recent exploit and on top of that it can still be done with ranged stacks. SE really needs to make ALL content that punishes ranged classes as much as it punished melees.

    EDIT: That or reduce the amount of damage they do lol
