Roleplay question

So before I start, I should make it clear this character I been playing (mostly to kill time) I don't plan to keep playing when endwalker starts (bunboy making for full story/ and build up on)

That said I have a few small questions doing with roleplay...

First one I have has to do with creatures such as the sylphs, Sahagun and the lizard guys. Is it possible or reasonable to say a character was found/raised by said tribes.

Second one: is if yes to the top question when naming a character What names would go for someone who raised by the sahagun.

Third: conditions in ffxiv (like mental/physically) is it same as real world or na?


Forth: (I know you get the chocobo at 20 with a license and all that) but is it possible to say you've had a mount that you had since it was an egg (mostly asking for water themed mounts if it the top ones are okay)

Sure. Anything is possible.

Sahagin speak, Rhotano Bloodcant which why their names are often similar to Roe names. I'd lean into that, or have them just bestow the child with an incredibly common name for their race, one they could have heard of before. The Lalafell (or whatever) version of John Anderson.

It doesn't have Sahagin, but there is an old post about Beast Tribe names that touches on some conventions for other tribes:

I'm not sure I understand what you mean here.

It's your headcannon. You can do whatever you like with it.
I know there are other RPers using "their father's" Chocobo, so go wild.

Loon Gah was effectively raised by the Brotherhood of Ash after the Amalj'aa captured her mother

so yes, it's possible for a child of one of the main races to have been raised by a beast tribe.

The second and third questions would be better answered by regulars in the lore forum.

There's no reason why you couldn't have had a mount all along. The GC issuance is more game mechanic for getting players a mount than some sort of lore about how the player character learned to ride.

Lore wise in regards to mount riding, there was an old bit of lore from 1.0 that was meant to explain why chocobo riding/mounts were not available for much of 1.0's life and were only added in a patch later on - and that was because a deadly disease was spreading through Eorzea that was affecting chocobos, called 'Chocobo Blight'. Things got so bad Ishgard's stables were concerned that if left unchecked the disease could render the species virtually extinct, so to stop that they quarantined their healthy birds and refused to supply any to the other city states, helped by Ishgard's closed border policy at the time.

Eventually the Blight diminished enough that they cautiously started to supply chocobos and eggs to the other city states, but because the supply was strictly controlled (Ishgard holds the monopoly on chocobo breeding in Eorzea), this meant the city states too had to be restrictive about who they allowed to ride them.

Because at that time the Seventh Umbral Era was imminent and Dalamud loomed large in the sky, most of the birds released to the citystates were prioritised for military use (read: use by the newly formed Grand Companies). Hence, they started to provide birds as mounts to GC enlistees who had demonstrated sufficent dedication to their Company to warrant being issued a mount. And this continued after the Calamity into ARR, where a chocobo licence is only granted to adventurers after enlisting in a Grand Company and showing requisite dedication to the Company. By extension this then applies to all other mounts as well, no matter how exotic they are.

Of course we are then shown merchants using chocobos to haul carriages and the like so maybe non-adventurers are licenced under a different system or none at all, but adventurers at least have to enlist in a Grand Company before they're legally allowed to ride a chocobo (and issued one for their personal use).
