    OP, it's fine!

Just being part of a group is you already 'giving', and if you actually... like play and not just afk, you're also actually helping

    DF is basically soloing things

Also, don't blame WoW for your feelings, or anyone for that matter, it's your own shadow ya gotta jump over and become Hokage! Or don't :3

It's up to you, and in the end its gotta feel nice and cozy for ya ^^

    Goodluck adventuring!

What you give is bonus rewards for the players who've been through the content before.

You get the "one or more" new players in there and you get bonus rewards for helping the new player(s) get through the content.

If you were on Aether data center, I'd volunteer to run with you.

This sounds like a personal problem I know; But I suppose years in WoW can force you into that habit of always needing to give to receive.

The game is inherently a multiplayer experience, as much as the story wants to focus it's narrative on you.
Just keep in mind that by using random players you are giving them something. You're filling a slot to get the dungeon or the fight over with. You're helping them do what they want.
You don't have to do anything special.

I totally get it. I am so used to soloing everything while leveling, that being made to fo groups for dungeons for the MSQ has me slightly frazzled, specially since I love playing tank classes.

I am kind of looking at this, as to get me out of my shell.

Heck, my wife, who never does dungeons, till my tank can pretty much solo them, has actually done more dungeons than me right now.

Granted, I have leveled like 6 characters to when I have to do Pirates and then started something new and sometimes deleted.

Luckily, I kept my first guy, who is currently 20 Thau, 19 Mar and 19 Gla, and have just gone back to him, and doing Gladiator. So time to start doing some dungeons.

I did do Sastasha or how ever its spelled as my Thau, but really want to do these as tank, so gonna redo that, and right now outside the next dungeon till later tonight hopefully.

I have major social anxiety and felt the same way starting out on MMO games, especially FFXIV where a lot of content is locked behind group events so I completely understand where you're coming from. However, I've found most of the community in FF are very mature, understanding and helpful - it simply takes a quick "Hi, new to this" in party chat when starting out and as long as you're not a d!!k about any advice given and actually seem to be trying to learn, most people wont care if you make mistakes - it's all part of the learning experience.

Heck, I've been playing (on and off) since 2.3 and I can still run into some group content and get killed within seconds - I've yet to have anyone have a go at me about it and it's mostly laughed off (especially if I die with style - most memorable was one of the Stormblood dungeons where I got hit by a knockback that pushed me into another knockback and so on - I ping-ponged across the screen three times before stopping right in front of the boss and got cleaved - the party wiped because they were laughing too much about it, but I got all 3 commendations for brightening up their day ).

Unfortunately a lot of the game is locked behind group content so eventually you will need to do it. But, if you're too nervous about using Dungeon Finder for random grouping you could try asking members of your FC to help out. Best advice is to just jump in, have fun, and don't sweat it.

Gonna be blunt here my dude, but it's an MMO. Even for one like this, it's expected that you play with other people from time to time.

And as one other person said, most people won't even remember you 5 minutes after the instance ends unless you do something that's like deliberately obnoxious. Just go in, do your rotation, beat up bad guys, get out. Very few fights in MSQ are very hard, they are designed to be cleared in a few pulls tops when new, when they are old most players already know them by heart and are heavily overgeared.

Just take a deep breath and do it. Worst case scenario is you die a few times, but believe me, nobody will care if you are doing your best (and if they do, they are an uncommon asshole).

Maybe try thinking about it from a pay-it-forward perspective. As new player you may not have anything to offer now, but down the road you'll be able to help future newbies in the same way.

Oh boy, wait until you hit some of the solo duties laster in the MSQ where you have to fight as a job/class you no idea about. Boom you are in it, you get 2-3-4 new buttons and yer on your own. I can usually get by these on easy mode after 2-6 tries (there are many duties where you fight on your class/job but there is simple but VERY specific way to do the fight and the only way you can tell WHAT you need be doing is essentially running progression, something that might take over a 12 cracks at it.

I have nothing to bring to the party; except guilt and remorse. Does anyone have any tricks or tips on getting to lvl 60 in ARR? I might be able to solo the trails then.

I must be really stupid for asking but I feel trapped.
I don't wanna be rude man but it is an mmo after all. And have you tried to work on this psychological issue at all? It is a mental block that can be overcome

I agree with your sentiment 100%, however, it's important to note that not all "mental blocks" (mental illnesses) can be overcome. Even with medication and therapy. If they could, suicide would not be a top ten cause of human death, and homelessness / drug addiction / depression and anxiety wouldn't be real things, because people would just "get over it" before bad things happened.

Source: Lived with mental illness (bipolar, OCD, clinical depression, chronic anxiety, and body dysmorphic) for 41 of my 46 years, despite a plethora of medication, forty different therapists, psychiatrists, CBT, and people telling me to "cheer up" and "get over it" and just "go out with friends."

I am able to play FF and WoW and other online games because "virtual" socialization doesn't really bother me. Actual socialization can make me break down in tears if the timing is right.

    Go figure. /shrug
