Why is the MSQ heavily dependent on groups?

I cannot for the love of me; sum the courage to join random pugs. I've tried my best to solo content in ARR but now it's impossible for I'm now on lvl 50 hard mode trails and such. I can't believe I managed to solo that far but this reliance on others is a huge punishment for someone like me.

I have nothing to bring to the party; except guilt and remorse. Does anyone have any tricks or tips on getting to lvl 60 in ARR? I might be able to solo the trails then.

I must be really stupid for asking but I feel trapped.

I think you can still level via side quests, potd, ect. But you just can't progress through the msq.

And there will still be required group content at 60's, 70's, and 80's.

As a newbie to the game, I've found that just saying "Hey, first time here" or somesuch has gotten good results in people being forgiving, and sometimes even explaining the fights. If you're DPS, you just hit things like normal. If you're a tank, you just try and hit everything. If you're a healer, keep the tank alive, but I doubt you're playing healer if you don't like being in a group.

And if you're talking about a Raid, in ARR as I discovered, mostly you'll just be hanging around in a group, and other people will mostly be killing things for you. It's a little frustrating actually, but you don't have to worry much about not doing anything.

I can't bring myself to rely on others for anything. It feels wrong as hell. I don't know man; but every time I do sum the courage to ask for help in game I get these over whelming positive comments and It seriously makes me choke. It's physically hurting me when homies display acts of kindness when I have nothing to give in return.

This sounds like a personal problem I know; But I suppose years in WoW can force you into that habit of always needing to give to receive.

You don't have to discharge your obligations immediately. Just be determined to get good enough to help out other people later on.

It's not that I'm helpless; My gameplay is mostly optimized. I've leveled as many classes as I could and I'm confident I have better reactions then most.

It's that I have to extend my hand to others. It burdens me, so I must search for an alternative. As pointless as that may be.

I apologize, shouldn't of even posted this problem as selfish as it is. At least I know what the palace of the dead is now.

but dear Lord, get over yourself. Nobody cares in DF. It's 15 minutes of spamming AoEs without anyone talking. It's not an earth shattering event. You'll be fiiiiiiiine~

I understand being anxious. It's not uncommon at first. But don't worry about it. All of the content required for the MSQ is braindead easy. It's so easy that you could make 100 mistakes and die 5 times and nobody would care or even say anything.

In the very rare time they ever say something rude, you can report them and they will probably get banned.

People are used to it being your first time because the roulette system matches them with those queueing directly and because first timers usually queue directly, there is almost always a first timer (or multiple). They are used to someone dying all the time so it's the norm. The content doesn't sync well without the minimum IL setting, so gear level causes it to be even easier.

People are rewarded for it being your first time with a "first time bonus" of either experience or tomestones. The sprout icon helps them to recognise when you are new and that causes people to take that into account and explain mechanics if there is a wipe.

The only difficult and serious content is optional and will contain (Extreme), (Unreal), Minstrel's Ballad, Coil, (Savage) or (Ultimate) and you don't normally queue for these, but instead form a party of friends or use party finder.

I could share every leveling trick i know, and indeed by level 60 you should be able to solo the hard mode trials if you know the mechanics well enough. But i feel compelled to tell you this wont be enough. Shortly before the end of the level 50 MSQ and just before you start the Heavensward expansion the story is going to ask you to complete the Crystal Tower alliance raid series because it is important to the story. These instances cant really be unsync'd in a meaningful way. So to get through, you will have to accept a couple groups.

If it helps you to think this way, im happy to let you know that i will do damn near anything to get extra new player bonuses. They greatly help with a couple pieces of high-end content. Any day that i log in, i spend time searching the Party Finder list looking for bonuses i can claim. So your just being there as a first time player is giving me this bonus i greatly desire as long as we finish the instance. An arrangement i am happy to be a part of again and again.
