I haven't participated in a S-rank kill for so long I've forgotten what the rewards are.
The last one I did intentionally was the giant mecha-frog in Kholusia for the mount tokens.

The only thing worse than the hunt system are the cliques that form around it.
They've said that it would be too much work to change the hunt system for all the hunts that they have, and I think that's fair. But if that's the case why not make a new system for future hunts you already have frameworks for? Like an advanced fate system, or the treasure map system to bring back the idea of hunting being meant for smaller groups/communities? I really just want SE to take a stab at making hunts less standoffish and maybe even more interesting or difficult, especially because they cut every other corner possible to try and curb player arguments and negativity, it just feels weird that this is one thing that they're sticking too super hard.
Honestly, I think they could fix basically every complaint about the current state of hunting if they:
1. Impose a damage cap on older S ranks via a buff to ensure they live long enough that appropriately leveled players have a fair chance to participate. In the current state of things if a group of level 50s tried to get together to hunt a ARR S rank, it would likely be spawned, instantly detected by a hunt sniffer program on a player and/or bot, then swarmed by level 80s before said players even have a chance to get full credit.
2. Allow hunt respawn windows be checked on hunt scholars (Which will specify whether a hunt is either still on cooldown or potentially able to spawned).
These are minor QoL type changes that could be realistically implemented with minimal effort.
As a suggestion, S Ranks should spawn with an active invulnerability buff which lasts for a few minutes (like 5 minutes). That will not prevent sniping as much, but people might find the S Rank engaged while not being relayed. For Early Pullers it just means they can't do that anymore and people can actually make it.
In regards to old Elite Marks such as in ARR, a second buff could automatically be applied upon engaging which makes it impossible to kill for a fair amount of time (like 1 minute).
Elite Marks such as Senmurv, Thousand-cast Theda, Zona Seeker, Nunyunuwi, Leucrotta, Udumbra and Ixtab are incredibly time consuming. And seeing those being pulled instantly is very punishing towards the person who actually invested their time. The use of third party tools are making it worse in that regard,
