The hunt community probably breeds more drama then any other part of the game as a whole, largely in part due to the fact that the vast majority of players consider things like waiting on S ranks and not killing A ranks outside of trains the norm despite it not being the "intended" design of hunts.
I personally feel like there's no logical reason not to share hunts because I actually have the patience to wait a couple minutes so other people can benefit from it, but I'm well past the point of getting flustered at people who don't think the same, nor do I have pity for the slowpokes who consistently show up late to hunts and miss out.
There are childish people on both sides of the hunting fence, though, and I've seen more then a few go on a self-righteous crusade to try solo as many S ranks as possible simply out of spite towards the greater hunting community, but they always end up burning out sooner or later simply because there are far more willing cooperate against them then with them.
At this point I feel like SE would be better off doing whatever they can to mitigate said drama even if it goes against their originally intended design of the hunts.
As previously stated, I think just putting a hard limit on how much damage you can cause on a per hit basis (Via some kind of buff) to older S ranks would probably solve most complaints with them dying too quickly while at the same time allowing players in the appropriate level range to still contribute. It would also encourage forming groups to kill them because while you could feasibly solo something if you're capped at around ARR levels of DPS but retaining ShB HP/defense levels, it would not be even remotely practical and I don't see an issue with content that was designed for groups originally remaining group-focused when the rewards are still proportionate to such and always relevant.
