    What the optimum group should be

    I see a lot of threads about PLD uselessness.

    In fact, all the class must be look upon to make sure every single is needed for the better results.

    A full party needs 8 people and there are 7 jobs/class that can join the fight. So basically, one of each, and an 8th member which class would depend on the content (Personally, i think we'll often see a second WHM).

    So each job must be unique, even for those who share the same role (DD or Tank).

    Parties that can't make this setup could still win all the fights, but less effectively.

    Setup like manaburn, or WAR-pt (Damn FFXI) should really be avoided, for the game to be fun for everyone.

    Moreover, jobs should really be better than their class counterpart, but more specialized. In small groups, classes can be used for versality, but in a full PT, 8 specialists should always do better

    Honestly PLD is an amazing job. People don't use it because the stray towards the easy way, BLM ARC and WAR.

    PLD has DEF down, Gorging blade (choke), Rampart (AoE def boost), AoE cure or stoneskin (better to go with the cure for hate), Divine seal (AoE regen) which adds to WHM regen and can Cure the melee while curing themselves.

    It's not the devs fault people don't use all classes, it's ours. There's no reason why you can't attack any fight in this game with all classes and beat it with ease. The only difference is it's harder.

    Think about it. You have to be really really on the ball to tank as PLD, using every ability to do the job well.
    What, do you use like five abilities with war and spam attacks?

    The difference is ease of use. Everyone is looking for the easiest way to do things and that's what it comes down to.

    I know I'm gonna get a "but war does more damage then PLD"; but what's war bringing to the table? just that. PLD does damage through it's choke and adds damage to every other physical class for the duration of the fight, all while back up curing the melee fighters.

    PLD could lose hate, Have a MNK there ready to pull it back for a few seconds. They can handle it.
    MNK can even stand with PLD taking damage and teh PLD could Holy succor off them to grab even more hate. Some AoE sanguine rite from the WHM if the PLD's MP is getting low.

    The options are there, people just gotta use em.

    Now they're gonna nerf collusion, which is a bad idea in my mind, it's a good tool for war to have. They're nerfing war altogether, just because no one cared enough to try other set ups.

    If they boost PLD even ever so slightly, it'll tip it to being better then war for sure. I'll put my money on no one using PLD thoguh just for the reason that it's a harder more dynamic fight.

    I just imagine the game would be alot more fun if people strayed from the chosen path abit. Mixed it up.

    The problem is "Why would you do a fight the hard way, when doing it the easy way is more rewarding (Speed kills) and...easier (duh) ?"
    This optimum setup should be the more rewarding way of doing fights, and it still is "difficult" because you have to find one of each job. Other setup would still be able to win ("No <that_class>, no fight at all" is really frustrating).

    Another topic speaks about un Aura idea, where each class gives a powerfull buff à la "strength in numbers" (Same aura couldn't stack). That is a really great idea and points towards this optimum setup too.

    I just like the challange, and the more dynamic feel fights would have.
    Guess I'm just getting bored of the same old shiz (WAR/ARC/BLM).

    I love that aura idea though, it sounds awesome.

    Every class is sort of good at different situations, the problem I guess is finding ways as they are now to make them all viable.

    idk, I can see a lot of people being upset if they're forced to do parties of all jobs lol
