I actually just started using a Tortoiseshell because I double-PIE'd it.
Haubergeon's are for ACC hoarders. Stuffed Cabbage is all you need.

So 3 beneficial stats on hauby and 2 on tortoise, 1 of which (piety) you'll more than likely meld to cap on this body anyway.
Hauby > scale mail
The argument was Hauby > scale mail without the accuracy. Literacy is a great thing.
Also, like I says earlier, Stuffed Cabbage give more than enough Accuracy to be fine on any fight with Ifrit's Harpoon; with Mogfork and/or Garuda it's even better (with the +25 ACC and all).
You listed all stats on both bodies posted when comparing the 2 without the accuracy. And hauby still wins because with your current gear setup in the prior posts you're sitting near capped piety but no where near cap on strength. So even with your setup Hauby would seem much more beneficial, bringing you closer to cap on STR while still boosing attack and giving accuracy. The argument was Hauby > scale mail without the accuracy. I'm not quite sure why you would turn down extra accuracy if you are already eating accuracy food and still miss. If you aren't hitting at 100%, the more accuracy the better. You seem to be against it in favor of the dexterity...
My current setup:
Cobalt Hauby with 28 piety
Felt trousers with 20 str
Darklight Sollerets
Darklight Helm
Fingerless raptor gloves of slaying with 45 str
Veterans Field Belt
2x +1 Pie ring
HQ Pie bracelet
Putting me at 351 STR and 313 PIE without food or meds.

I only posted all the stats so you could see them all, they were provided to argue the comment that hauby > scale mail without the accuracy. You compared both bodies with all stats posted when you clearly state that you are comparing the 2 without accuracy. And hauby still wins because with your current gear setup in the prior posts you're sitting near capped piety but no where near cap on strength. If I had your pants, I would be sitting at 350 STR 296 PIE without food, without triple melds or any +1 gear. There are several culinarians in my LS, and I'm working on it myself, so having Cabbage is never a problem.
My Setup (330 STR 296 PIE):
Scale Mail with 36 PIE
AF Pants
AF Feet
AF Helm
Felt Bracers with 29STR (and 3 PIE that came with the gloves)
Veteran's Field Belt
2x STR rings
Tourmaline Barcelet
With the exact same gear as you, but swap for the scale mail and +1 STR instead of PIE, you're looking at 354 STR 322 PIE. Swap out my bracers for your gloves (with same materia as your gloves), and you're now looking at 354 STR 325 PIE, and only a difference of 1 Accuracy.
For the whole food thing, with food I hit 95+% on primals and CC/AV bosses, and most of the misses are auto-attacks (with Ifrit's Harpoon). With Mogfork or Beak I would probably be at 100% and 95% without food. So, that point is moot. It's a matter of preference, and I prefer the scale mail *shrug*. If you want to argue Accuracy, why aren't you using felt bracers? 3 extra PIE, 5 extra Accuracy (Hauby gives 6).
