The gist...
After my first time completion by any character of the dungeon in the final original main scenario lvl 50 quest, The Ultimate Weapon, there are SEVERAL cutscenes in a row. I also have the Shadowbringer's Collector's Edition DLC upgrade kit. So many cutscenes in a row. Battle over cutscene, warrior of light cutscene, escape explosion on magitec cutscene, welcomed back to friends cutscene, 3 different credits cutscenes in a row, a new era cutscene, then it goes through the cutscene where the Ascions are chanting to their god. After completing this cutscene, the screen goes black like it normally does to load you back into game after a cutscene or loading the next 100th cutscene in a row. I don't know if anymore cutscenes were coming as this was the first time doing this quest, but the screen stays blank and never loads whatever was supposed to come next. I have read so many posts all over the internet about people having the same issue and it is rubbed off as being an issue with people watching cutscenes but I have never had any issues with cutscenes but of course, none before now had 100 cutscenes in a row non stop either. The first time I tried, as the game loads me back into the game at the first cutscene, I wanted to watch the cutscenes since I never seen them. Then after the first black screen and having to shut down the game via Task Manager I retried while skipping all the cutscenes this time but still same issue. Tech support was at a loss. Last resort was reinstalling the game. Still waiting with another hour left of download to see if this even makes a difference. I enjoy the story and like watching the cutscenes at least once, and I wouldn't want anything cut out, but breaking into pieces rather than having so many cutscenes after cutscenes one after the other after this dungeon might lessen the load of things don't you think? A couple of cutscenes and then talk to x npc which initiate next couple of cutscenes rather than so many in a row? At any rate, I think this issue, whatever the problem may be, is getting overlooked and dismissed as people not having PCs up to spec or not updated or not turned on or some stupid excuse for their game being broke.

It just so happens that I have 2 systems in the household. Bought at the same time and are identical. Same software, same specs, same hardware, same FFXIV products, same drivers but for a different account of another family member. I logged onto my account using that system...wasn't even sure if that was allowed but it let me log into my character and completed the quest on that machine identical to this one. The problem is not with the system nor the game itself but it seems rather people having these issues are receiving dirty or incomplete downloads of the game. Is it the launcher or the server carrying the download? IDK...I hope this helps and see if the issue can be eliminated in the future. I still have a couple of hours remaining of redownloading the game on this system.

Redownloaded game and reinstalled. Now gives errors and crash on load. Never did this before. Same specs as before. Same software. Same drivers. Same game? I just wasted 5 hours of my time. I am about to hang it all up.

I am finally back in business after 10 painful hours of reinstalling 3 times before my game would run. See what I mean? There is something causing this to happen far too frequently. The dirty or incomplete downloads. Hopefully they can fix this issue. I have fallen in love with this game and I greatly love the community. This is the friendliest MMO community I have ever been amongst. I do not want to go anywhere.
