Funnest DPS job?

What is a DPS job that is actually fun to play in your opinion? Bonus if the job looks good for a Hrothgar.

I bought at the launch of 2.0, I used to play endgame in Heavensward but it's been a while. My highest is DRK at 78, because it was a lot of fun when it first came out and it is still my favorite job.

I am trying to level a DPS class so I can do something other than tank. I tried Samurai but I don't like it that much. It seems needlessly messy with the setsu getsu ka mechanic. Dragoon was my starting class when I first played but the jumps are totally different than 2.0 and it seems like it changed into a more generic lance class.

My fav DPS right now are NIN and MCH.
Though after Endwalker drops I suspect I'll be playing much more SMN.

Sounds like you've tried out mainly melee DPS though. Is there any reason for that?
If you have any interest in ranged DPS maybe try those out. Could be melee just isn't your bag.

Not really, I just haven't got around to trying them. Mechanist does look pretty cool, I hear a lot of people play it though.

Fun to me boils down to 2 things: If the job is smooth to play and if the actions are satisfying to press regarding visuals and sound, so...

Red Mage, Dancer and Ninja are my choices here!

For healing, it is defnitely Astrologian, because Malefic's cast time is great to weave... Although that's gonna be for all the other healers come EW, and Sage is looking like a real contender...

For tanks, Warrior is my choice because Inner Release feels like one of the most satisfying buttons to press. Nothing like seeing a chain of guaranteed crits.

Just try everything and pick the ones you feel that suit you most.
You can start with the job with weapons or aesthetics that you like if you don't know which job to start.

Since you're not limited to any job, you could pick them all up and test them out.
Get them to 30, so you unlock the job, then jump into POTD to see how they are at 60, or HOH for their 70er version.

That's still a very limited demo, but it's better than grinding a char to 70 to then decide it's not your thing.

I would say that Summoner and Ninja are some of the most fun jobs for me personally.

Well to split it into the different roles.

Ranged Magical: Red Mage. Super smooth and enjoyable class and probably my favorite overall DPS. It's just really nice to play.

Ranged Physical: Machinist. Doesn't have a heavy reliance on procs like the other two and has an easy but fast playstyle.

Melee: Samurai. I honestly hate the aesthetics of the samurai but the class practically plays itself with how smooth it is. I'd say Ninja is right up there but I feel like you almost have to main it or at least play it a LOT otherwise it feels like your constantly making mistakes in the rotation and that kinda upsets me.

The funnest job imo is red mage, great support capabilities, good dps, cool glams and it's not hard to learn or play, plus once u learn it your not bored cause it has multiple things it can do.

Machinist would match Hrothgar cause it matches the look of the powerhouse races like hroth,roe and highlander, when I was a Hrothgar I played machinist and they fit well together, plus much is fun.

funnest is subjective but for me samurai, black mage, and dragoon is probably the funnest of the bunch.
Sam has a really fun loop of doing midares and having a strict rotation.
Black mage has some of the smoothest rotations in the game and learning on it is a lot of fun.
Drg is more simple then sam and black mage but it has great animations and delaying life of the dragon is satisfying once you get it down.
Sam is still my fav though.
