What kind of PC runs this game well?

I'm fairly well off these days. I have an M1 Mac but it can only really run at about 720p because it emulates.
I heard some people say they got better results but I'm not sure that's the case.

I can just buy another separate gaming PC but it'd be good to have one that doesn't take up too much space like some giant tower or some @#$!. Where do you guys get your PCs?

Depends a lot on your budget. There's also the issue that GPU availability is still poor to non-existent right now and what few are available are usually marked up heavily in price. Personal recommendation for the current climate would be to get a laptop with something like an RTX 3050 in it. These can be had for under $1000 (for example, Acer Nitro 5) and should easily stay above 60fps on 1080p high settings.

Oh yeah, I forgot about this. Since I can play 720p at mid to high I don't think it'd be worth the upgrade just to get 1080p. I'd probably prefer some 4k 60fps monster anyway.
Might have to wait a year or so honestly if there's not much out there now.

this game had to originally cater to ps3 specs so its not a resource heavy game. if you are playing the game as it's served to you, its a low spec game. the development of the graphics has been held back because they want console players to stay connected cross-platform. if they made the game too good, then they'd divide the playbase.

your issue is mainly that you have a mac tbh. if you had even an average pc, (not "monster pc") you can play this game

I play on GTX 1060 which is pretty old but it runs great you don't need the newest GPU to run the game better than 720. it's likely is so low for you due to the fact that its emulating. If you are thinking about buying a new pc basically any "gaming" pc or laptop should run the game just fine. Honestly you don't need 4k for an mmo...
